Little win from yesterday: I was having halloumi burgers for lunch and wanted some burger relish. I nearly went out and brought some and then thought ‘hang on, it’s only tomato ketchup, finely chopped gherkins and shallot …’ so that’s what I did and it was really tasty 😊👏

Did you buy the halloumi burgers or make them yourself? If the latter, recipe please!!
We've got a massive middle eastern supermarket near us. I haven't been there but him indoors says it's a palace (he loves the baclava section, apparently it's huge). I wonder if they might sell something like that.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I like burger relish but hate that the jar always reads use in x days once opened, so can't bring myself to buy it. I'm loving your gherkin/shallot idea and may add some paprika and possibly some mustard as well (from another fakeaway recipe I have). Chilli mayo is another one that always seems to have a big price but a short use by date, so I make my own by adding a blob of chilli sauce to some light mayo. My latest fave receipe is mango icecream from a fb video - 150g frozen mango chunks, 50g low fat yoghurt and 50g of soya milk (or any milk would do I'm sure). I've got a really powerful stick blender and it blends into delicious icecream in minutes."Think of many things, do one"

Loving that we are all now riffing on 'interpretive recipes'

@Brie, the halloumi burgers came from Sainsbugs. Sorry for the slow response - this is my 4th attempt at it!

No worries about a slow response. The whole site is pretty glitchy right now.KajiKita said:Loving that we are all now riffing on 'interpretive recipes'

Would have thought pineapple would be too fibrous?SandyShores said:

AND fyi - watch out for added sugar in frozen fruit. Got caught out a couple of times when I used to shop at Aldi. I wondered about the fibre, but although it was a bit harder to blend it was really smooth (my gifted stick blender is really strong). It was a strange sort of taste, just not as strong or sweet as the mango, I don't want to add sugar so looked up some recipes and found one that uses alpro coconut milk with the pineapple. I might even get a coconut yoghurt to add too - sort of a pina cola. It was 112 calories and part of my five a day so I can't complain.Brie said:

Found this Jamie Oliver cheats mango icecream too, he uses lime and optional honey - might be nice for a treat.
ps I hadn't thought to check added ingredients but will remember to keep an eye out. Also, just spotted that Sainsbugs are doing a buy 3 get one free offer on frozen fruit so will be down there soon at the mango section."Think of many things, do one"
