    That’s quite a lot of almonds! 😂

I’ve thought about blood sugar monitoring but they all seem incredibly expensive! 😳

Best thing I did was reverting back to my maiden name. Just sorry it took me so blooming long.

I still wonder why women change their name in the first place.  I know historically it was the done thing but now?  It makes all the paperwork much easier.  But maybe that's just me.  Noisy feminist....I have often been asked what my "maiden" name was and I pretend to not understand.  "Oh you mean my surname when I was born?  Same as now!"

(not having a dig at you beanielou, or anyone else.  it's just one of those constant niggles on my brain along with why we still refer to "man hours" and why the yanks can't accept that the metric system is better than their imperial version)

I changed my name when I got married as it gave me chance to leave my family and my past behind. When I then also switched from my middle name to my first name on all forms of social media, in work etc. I had the comfort of knowing I was just that little less visible to my psycho ex ….

That makes sense @kajikat in situations where you want or need to detach yourself from a name.

If we ever decide to marry I have no plans to change my name and OH has no plans to change his either.

Having never married it has not been an issue for me but VNM and I have discussed (no plans) and I would not change my name in the professional space.  Too much experience in the world I work and it seems my name is mentioned from time to time so I would keep it.

Would consider changing personally thou - a new life and all that
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I use both my names; married for life and for voluntary work  and politically; maiden name for sector I've been in for decades.  I had a German colleague who couldn't believe it was legal to use both as in many places,  you choose.   My passport,  driving licence are in my married name; all credit cards are in my maiden name and all bank accounts bar one.  I've often debated whether I have 2 identities or just 2 names, with 1 emphasing slightly different traits.  It's the latter, I've decided. It makes deciding what greeting to have on my phone quite the conundrum,  but I've just gone with my first name. Agree with @Watty1 and @KajiKita re fresh starts.  Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx

Just catching up KK  I agree the hired gardener was well worth it. After seeing what professionals can do here in a day with the new extension I am more than happy to pay...it would take us 100x times longer
Thank you @SandyShores for the icecream recipe I am going to try that as DD loves mango.
And on the maiden name/ married name topic, I couldn't wait to distance myself from my family name I was born with as I didn't want to think about my dad every time I used it. But after being married and changing my name and then divorcing I was super glad to take that maiden name back to distance myself from the ex  . DP & I are engaged and I think if we marry I will hyphenate it so I still have my maiden name. It was such a pain to change everything. And even now I still have the odd thing I forgot about in my married name.

Totally agree with getting a gardener in @KajiKita! Considered expenditure that totally makes sense and allows you both to get on with your lives! Love Humdinger xx

Excellent work in the garden, well done!

I didn't change my name when we got married. Wasn't really a big decision, I just didn't even consider it 😂 It would have been a bit of a faff professionally for me, plus Mr Cheery had changed his own surname a few years before, and that was enough paperwork quite frankly, without going through it all again for me 😂😂

My sister did change hers when she married though, and my mum went back to her maiden name a few years ago (after having been divorced for about 30 years) so there aren't many left in the family with the same name now!
