DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Okay, okay! I give in!! 😉😂😂😊
Finished the week on a good note. New quality inspector / technician / engineer (who knows what his role is, it keeps changing! 🙄😂) came to collect his offer letter and contract, both prepared by site manager, my boss. I read quicker than new recruit and spotted that my boss had left the £5K car allowance in the contract from a previous version for someone else - definitely doesn’t apply to this role! 😳😂😂 Haired upstairs to boss’s office and showed him! Boss expleted, amended and reprinted contract and then came down to deliver it and meet said Quality Bod. I think that was a good ‘catch’ on my part, feels like I have ‘earned my keep’ today 😉😊
Because we were all locked out of everything this morning (cyber attack apparently) and I jumped on it straight away and got my password changed, I got into all the systems c. 2 hours before anyone else. I used the opportunity to grab the technical manager and start drafting an induction plan for the new quality bod - which I showed QB when he came in. He was really pleased as that had been one of his questions in his first interview. 😊KKAs at 15.07.25:

I’m really tired after a seriously bad night last night (overheating due to chip supper and lots of dreams about George-cat 😢🤷♀️), but this afternoon I have managed:
- Emptied all internal bins
- Dealt with Madame Chloe’s overnight litter tray
- Washed and dried two loads on the line as the forecast for tomorrow looks pretty unsettled!- Wiped down the lounge (TV stand and ornaments, mantelpiece and ornaments, two windowsills, both standing lamps and the top of the wood burner)
- Cleared down the top of the new ‘kitchen island’ that we threw together last night, so when Mr KK got home he could get straight onto trimming the lump of worktop on it. This has transformed our kitchen and we’ve barely used it so far 😊- Next session on mindful eating - we did the hunger scale today 😊
- Pulled handfuls of bindweed top growth and flowering stems out from the cotoneaster on the drive that is normally buried behind Mr KK’s van when I’m at home 😊 Emptied the peelings bucket into the compost bin 😊
- Meals plan for the week and Toscos shop done 👏
- Fed us both 😊

Accommodation booked for visiting my parents in September. Should get CB if it tracks. We will have a room with double bed and shower each, which would not be an option at my parents …Have emailed my mother to let her know when we are available and asking when they want to see us across that weekend so we can plan around them.I can do no more. 🤷♀️

Perhaps we should all give you our location so you can escape to one of us during your visit? I’m in East Kent 😉
im sorry you don’t have a good relationship with your parentsCarolbee0 -
Thanks @beanielou and @carolbee, that’s a sweet thought but I am heading ‘oop North’ on the west coast so I don’t think that will work. 😊 Mr KK is coming with me and my parents like him so that will help. We are also starting to discuss-plan conversation topics! 😉😂
Mr KK (and me as his plus one) has just had an invite to a long service awards dinner put on by the people he has been self employed with for 20+ years … So we’re not sure if he is getting an award or not, but it’s a free dinner! 😉😂🤷♀️😊
Our new kitchen island is awesome … it’s making us both happy.I spent money on myself today - haircut (budgeted for), new bras (the ones I had before either underwires were digging into my ribs or made me look like I had a mono-boob 😳😂), two new tops for work (all these from clothes budget) and some crochet stuff and a new necklace … (the latter two not budgeted for … ahem! 😉).I am planning on playing in the front garden, with occasional breaks in the deck chair, this afternoon followed by a night out in the chapel tent with a ploughman’s and a live blues two-piece this evening. 😊

Hope the free dinner out is nice as well as suitable. And hope Mr gets some recognition.
And I looked at your list of what you have done or going to do today and am feeling deflated as I was pleased that I had managed to put a couple of dusty vases in the dishwasher.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
