Had a busy week in work, but positive and productive. I’m tired now having gone into work at 7am today to help coordinate the removal of three machines before the factory started working this morning. I was then allowed to leave at noon today 😊👏
Still managed to get some things knocked over through the week:
- Finally tracked my commute mileage - 11 miles a day - went online and reduced it on my car insurance policy and got a refund of £34.32 😊
- Took my winter duvet to be washed and retrieved it again today. The ladies in the dry cleaners actually thanked me! 😳 Apparently, lots of people leave them there for months after they’ve washed them …
- My broadband provider sent me an email at the start of the week saying that our contract was coming to an end and they default would be to double the charges. After some back and forth and looking around I am staying with them, for the same price! (I’d have liked some reduction but it seems quite expensive from everyone now.)
- Got a refund for my satsumas which had gone mouldy by midweek!
Heading out for dinner tonight at a local, newly refurbished pub.Feeling very virtuous as I have cleaned the bathroom and loo, scrubbed the kitchen sink, emptied every internal bin, done the online grocery shop, paid £100 spare funds as an OP from the joint account and put the duvet on the line to air it this afternoon. As well as going to the library and buying Mr KK baby European beers in Ald1 😊
I feel justified in chilling out and relaxing for a bit!

There’s some other life stuff going on here … not bad 😊
After the second session on the mindful eating I have very consciously being aiming to eat more - protein and fibre without labelling food as good or bad and drink more water. I am also trying to question myself when the raging craving for crisps comes up. There was one time when I was upset after getting a snarky email from a fellow parish councillor - I had the crisps, watching myself as I did so. They didn’t taste that good after the first couple and it didn’t make me feel any better. The second time I rummaged around in what I was feeling and it was insecurity about what I had achieved that day - so that time I told myself that I could have them after I had finished the task I was on and getting distracted from. I finished the task and the craving was there but much smaller and ignorable. When I feel like a snack e.g. something salty I am deliberately adding extra protein or fibre to it e.g. nuts. I’m not losing any weight but the ‘noise’ around food is calming down - it’s only now it has, that I am becoming aware of it, iyswim. The drinking more water does seem to be helping my energy and concentration levels. To stop me being woke in the night by needing the loo, I stop drinking ‘extra’ water after dinner so I can ‘clear out’ before going to bed. I’m starting to use the extra energy to do a few toning and stretching exercises every other night, which are just starting to show results. The other thing that has happened this week is that I’ve had a two hour session with a psychologist after doing a personality and capabilities assessment for work (the whole management team are doing it, in part so we can learn how to work together better). I’m seeing that I’m pretty damaged, probably a lot from childhood but also that horrendous time I had with my last boss but one. It also made me realise how much ‘masking’ I must do - my self esteem is low (13%) but I don’t come across like that to people. I suspect that also explains why I find work and socialising so very tiring because I am constantly putting so much effort into it.The other really noticeable thing for me is that I have lots of strategies and techniques that I use to keep me on track in work (I recognise a lot of the way these characteristics can play out in a less positive way in a work context from early in my career), but not so much at home or in my personal life.I’ve done these kind of personality profiling things before for jobs, but never in as much detail and never with a psychologist follow up. I have much to think about and learn from here.

I completely hear you on the masking and how exhausting it is and the food noise.
Really good to hear about the psychologist session, lots of companies do these sorts of things but there's no follow up or output other than "here, learn something about yourself".2 -

It also helps that the psychologist has been working with this particular assessment tool for a long time, so she was able to say things like ‘people with high levels of curiosity and low levels of impulse control such as you have, often have challenges with staying focused on one task …’ and such like - that made me laugh as that was soooo me in my twenties 😉😊

Been quite a relaxed but reasonably productive day 😊OAT’ing today was unpacking the dishwasher that arrived (literally) months ago <shame faced shuffle 😂> as well as taking the drawer and shelf out of and the door off the unit that needs to be removed to install it, so visually the gap is ‘looking at’ Mr KK everyday … (it’s fallen too far down his list!)
Also, swopped over the cutlery drawer insert and refilled it. It works really well - very proud of myself for getting this job done 😊
Adulting today included:
- taking Chloe to the V. E. T. for her final check up, jabs and deworming / defleaing sticky neck. We actually managed to get her in the box without any major drama or trauma this morning - we were so early to the vets that we had to sit in the car for 20 minutes before going in! 😉😂
- Submitting meter readings for gas and electric as soon as I got the reminder email this afternoon! 💪 It will be interesting to see how our balance is doing - hoping building a bit of credit now.- Couple of washing loads done, almost dried on the line but we have had sporadic rain drops and high humidity today so it’s all airing in the conservatory now. Also, finally finished watching the latest star wander series. Considering cancelling netflicks now until the autumn …
