The last couple of days have been hard going, largely because of one those horrid black fly bites I react so badly to on my right leg - made walking quite sore and sleeping difficult. However, this evening has been lovely. My leg was finally easing off towards the end of the day and I got home to Mr KK washing out the mixer having concreted another step in place and talking vaguely about going to a bike meet … I swung into action and immediately started cooking whilst he dug the bike out and had a shower. I added apple mint from the garden to the boiled spuds 😊👏
I did ask him to help me with the washing up and once that was done, he went off to play for an hour or so (had a good time) and I chilled on the sofa for a while. By then it had cooled down quite a bit so I headed out into the garden and made a start on an OAT - I need to extend a bed to the end of the front garden / meet up with the top of the drive to make space for a miniature white buddleia and a classic bright pink cistus. I got out with gloves, kneeler, scissors and hands to pull a lot of two foot tall grass stems and trim it all down to ground level. I then gave it a good watering to soften the ground ready to dig up the ‘turf’ (not really! 😉) this coming weekend. Removed two big tubs of grass! The birds were singing their heads off, my sweet peas have started flowering and the azalea in the courtyard has suddenly started flowering and smells amazing 🤩 ❤️👏

They are a bit more tender when young so either don’t plant them out too early or protect them from winds with fleece. They like lots of water. They also need protection from slugs to begin with.

Love that little patch of courtyard with the azalea. I notice woodchip - do you find that helps reduce the weeds? (I have a huge problem with weeds and limited time)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!1 -

It's gone from being a dumping ground a couple of years ago to really being quite pretty
I use the bark for weed weakening so they are easier to remove as they don't grow quite as strongly and for moisture retention.

Booked two weeks leave for the end of July 👏🥳
Rearranged Chloe’s boosters for a week Saturday as Mr KK will be away this Saturday.Felt quite hurt by a nit picking email from a fellow PCer. That unfortunately led to a packet of crisps … 🙄🤷♀️
Had a nice surprise this evening - got the first crop of strawberries from my patch 🍓❤️😊 We are having them with vanilla ice cream 😊
