Another good day
Got up at normal time as Mr KK needed to anyway for the militaria sale he was setting up at today ready for tomorrow. He's taken a huge volume of stuff! I am crossing many fingers that he comes back with an empty van tomorrowHe met the chap who wrote the definitive reference book to home front, war time helmets. Yes, Really. It was a bit of a mini 'meet your hero' moment for him
- Wrangled the groceries shop and sent a number of useless subs back
- Wrangled Mr KK's washing as he is hectically busy this weekend. That will need folding ... tomorrow!
- Popped out to the builders merchant where I was patronized by another customer who wasn't sure if I knew which site building I should be in ... <eye-roll> Fortunately, the actual assistant was far more civil. Got my gravel for renewing the edging mulch in the courtyard.
- Used the new petrol station in the next village, which atm has insanely cheap fuel. I suspect it won't stay that cheap but even close to it would be good. A visit to the local small Coop afterwards made that shop look very dingy by comparison ...
- Financial updates. Looks like the reduced the car maintenance costs will leave me with a spare £50.75 per month ... we will see. Noticed that I had run the joint account down to £0.04! Yikes ..! That is a bit tight ... I had better shuffle some monies across from the linked savings as a buffer.
- Made lunch, properly from scratch, trying a new recipe and baked mushrooms stuffed with leeks, cheese and curly kale from my garden. Quite proud of that as it meant I hit two personal goals: consuming food from my garden and trying new recipes / cooking techniques - especially as I then harvested some parsley for dinner as wellThe recipe called for pre-baking the mushrooms before stuffing and cooking them again, but actually I think I prefer them a bit juicier ...
- Then an hour and half in the garden focused on the courtyard.
Watered the fern that was in the gravel, then mulched it with the new gravel.
Cut back the evergreen ferns on the other side of the courtyard in the actual border bed and pulled away a lot of the hardy geranium that was trying to take over the world last summer. Watered that bed thoroughly.
Potted up some of the geranium pieces, as I think they root quite easily and they will be free plants for the copse.
Mulched the bed with sterile, bought in bracken compost and then topped with a full wheelbarrows worth of bark.
It's looking good.
Finished an earnest but short novel this morning and a sweet gardening book (Tottering in my Garden) last night, so have updated my signature with those and my running produce total

All sounds promising on the job front - fingers crossed on meeting going well next week
hope Mr KK comes back with an empty van as well !DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks @Cheery_Daff 😊 I have been sent a teams invite for the call tomorrow night but my replies to that email keep bouncing … we will see what happens …
Quieter day today as the weather has been wet here all day and I have felt a bit lurgified.- Got all the washing for both me and Mr KK folded and put away AND collapsed and put the heated airer away!! 🥳🎉🎊
- Towels washed, dried and returned to use location / storage.- Emptied, reviewed and made decisions about the contents of six use for life bags that had come home from several jobs. This I had to do in spurts but it’s mostly done. Just some little bits of storage still to be sorted but SOOO much better 👏😊
- Emptied the kitchen bin and left the spring lid section in the sink with cleaning spray on it so it was easy to clean later.- Very much V0yager and tapestry done.- Finished the novel I started yesterday 😊 Made me cry, in a good way ❤️
- Cooked dinner. Usually this is Mr KK’s job on a Sunday but he’s had a hectic weekend at the sale and he will be cooking tomorrow night as I will be interviewing.- Had a small amount of TCB arrive and with a TT of my current account and the joint account I topped it up to a £7.41 OP 😊
EDIT: Tidied away winter leggings, jumpers and scarves as my bedroom was muddly with them. Feels better and clearer in there too 😊
Think that’s it for today 😊
