I think job interviews are worse than dating.  You have to make up your mind on something that affects your life in such a major way based on just a few mins - ok - 95 mins in this case but still.  Both of you were on bestest behaviour trying to convince another.    So difficult.

A thought:  being a big fish in a small pond, would that give you influence with the big boss regardless of site manager?

Hope the offer comes through for you, you obviously are a talented lady with great skills that you present well. Fingers crossed for you
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

That sounds positive! Hopefully you at least get an offer, and then you can make your mind up about what to do about it 😊

Maybe journal or walk solo to think it through
I chant to help make my decisions but whatever works for you to give you mental clarity - it’s worth taking the time out

if there is something saying ‘no’ to you maybe ask directly about it once you get the offer
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

1.5 k works out at £5 ish a day - how much quicker is the commute ? - even on minimum wage you’re in profit in ‘me’ time.

Do whatever feels right but don't let past people being rubbish affect your potential. At the end of the day you already don't like your job so if you don't like this one you'll at least be nearer home not liking it!

But I got on well with him last night when we were both tired. But there are so many positives (better pension, much shorter commute, flexible working, far more interesting job, genuinely being needed not just being a technical skivvy, as I am at the moment). I will sit with it and probably talk it through with a work mentor I have. It might also be a lack of faith in my own judgment after taking my current job ….

This is the bit I'm focusing on. Good rapport, good pension and more interesting work.  AND a shorter commute.  I took a chunky drop in salary once to change from being an minimum hour each way and £8 a day to park to being able to cycle to work in 10 minutes.  The drop in salary was about the same as the commute costs without taking in to account wear and tear on the car.  And I gained maybe 90 minutes me time.  It's amazing what a difference that can make to your life.

    (but hey I'm an optimist!!!)

Definitely talk to your mentor about it.
