Thanks Greenbee. We couldn’t cope with indoor cats - it’s too visible that there is FREEDOM just outside our windows and we aren’t here enough to keep them exercised. George was having a great time - came in every night, bright eyed and covered in mud, ready to clean himself off on his hooman’s laps! 😉❤️ Really sad for him that it ended so soon, but it is what it is I guess … 🤷♀️greenbee said:I know it's hard, but he had a happy time with you. When I picked my two up from the rescue they were happy that they would be outdoor cats (they don't rehome to people living on main roads), as although there is some risk involved, they knew that they would be happy and well-cared for. I told them I didn't think I'd cope with indoor cats as I tend to have all the doors and windows open if it's warm enough... and the four months they were inside for (until they were spayed and recovered!) was quite enough. In some situations, for some cats, for certain lifestyles it works to have indoor cats, so it's worth considering. But that doesn't mean that George didn't have the best life possible, however short.
I really hope you are right … All three of us are really jumpy and unsettled. Chloe isn’t really eating much atm … At what point do I worry about this?SandyShores said:Sending huge hugs about George xxx.

Done a review this morning of what outstanding balance we are projected to have, according to the MSE mortgage payment calculator, at the end of our new 5 year deal:
£164,857
I have looked at an analysis I did of my OPs in 2023 and what is likely to be repeatable (see below).Current OP target is £9,249 which would bring us down to £155,608.
What I would actually *like* to achieve is £150K by end of the 5 years …. 🤞 That would be a fairly ambitious stretch target, but I’m not sure how much having OPs will reduce interest costs through the 5 years.Current planned OPs would include:
- 5 x way leave payments at £76.67 p.a.
- £8 cashback per month
- £16 surveys revenue per month (I need to get back onto these again)
- £10 End of month excess from joint current account
- £100 end of month excess from me
- £4.42 ‘auto’ OP because have set the monthly payment as a fixed amount above the requirement. This will need checking with C0-0p each year.I have set up an OPs target tab on my spreadsheet and will track what I do and don’t manage each month ….

How about one of those sprays or plug ins for Chloe? I would phone the vet and ask without taking her in, mine is quite helpful that way.
As for the MOP aims - I think it’s good to push yourself as you might achieve it, you might not but you will definitely achieve more than if you just coast along. Or that’s my view any way!Mortgage OP 2025 £7550/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Ah, like F3liway or some such …? Good shout. I will do an online rummage. Thank you xskint_spice said:How about one of those sprays or plug ins for Chloe? I would phone the vet and ask without taking her in, mine is quite helpful that way.

And yes, I agree. What gets measured, gets done, as they say … 😉😊
I think it helps having a realistic target (I hate failing! 😉😂) and a stretch target - I love having a vision … 🤩😊😂

Another shout out for F3liway or similar. It seemed to help Feralkitten when she moved in. And maybe some rescue remedy? Chloe is grieving just like you. Sending love xMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
so sorry to hear about George, it does awfully happen to kittens, dont think they are as aware. Poor Chloe and Mr KK as well.
I had indoor cats but central London and they were pedigree so safer for them and the bird population...
Good to focus on the OPs - I think getting it down to £150k in 5 years is a great target.. You can do a little silly dance each month as you see what you have managed.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Another one who would agree with getting some F3liway. I plug it in the lounge where he likes to relax. Have you also got some catnip? I can highly recommend this brand and these stinkies are great too (they don't stink). Although I know that catnip doesn't have the same effect on all cats.
A little bit of spoiling is in order for you all. xx"Think of many things, do one"
