    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

It's the cascade of tasks that shuts me down very quickly.  I want to have the windows cleaned but it makes sense to clear the gutters first, which can't be done when there's things in the way that need to be taken to the charity shop and I need to get a lot of that stuff into the bins/tip too which is a huge task.  So the windows remain dirty.
I’m confused - why can’t the windows and gutters be cleaned from outside?

As for the rubbish, if there really is a lot of it, maybe book a skip?

some of the stuff to be cleared away is in the car port where one of the windows is.

and obviously everything is cleaned from the outside.....it's just me prevaricating I think.

Done a review this morning of what outstanding balance we are projected to have, according to the MSE mortgage payment calculator, at the end of our new 5 year deal:
    £164,857

What I would actually *like* to achieve is £150K by end of the 5 years …. 🤞 That would be a fairly ambitious stretch target, but I’m not sure how much having OPs will reduce interest costs through the 5 years.
This is great Kajikita, from the 200s, to looking at heading under £150k.  We're roughly the same figures/term as you and its great to think this is achievable.  My aim is to repay the mortgage in full by SPA, but I know that N/W were offering mortgages up to the age of 85 as long as they were less than £150k/60% LTV.  It gives another option, and I do like having a back up plan just in case.

Have you seen the overpayment calculator on MSE where you can add a planned monthly OP so you'd be able to see the effect of your monthly OPs?  I like your organisation and setting out those regular OP targets.

Maybe you should put the extra into your pension or savings and only OP if Mr KK agrees to match it? After all, the house is a shared asset/liability - maybe you should wait to do any further OPs yourself until he’s caught up?

I’m sure work will be fine - but a new job is always a bit daunting until you’ve got the hang of the people/processes/culture/jargon. Best of luck!

You know those jobs where you want to do one thing, but to do it you have to do this and that and the other job …? 🤔

We call those 9th square jobs. Do you remember those games where you had nine squares and removed one blank square to create a space then had to move the other squares one at a time in sequence to get them into the right position and show the picture?

Our house is all about 9th square jobs so you have my sympathy!
That’s a brilliant way of describing them! 🤩😊👏
I suspect everyone has at least one 9th square job! 😉
