Hi @ladybird1106 😊
@debtfreewannabe321, yes the soul / chi / life energy has long since left the body of the chicken I am doing the reiki on, but my sense is that the echo of the suffering remains as a small tear or fault line in the fabric of energy around that chicken, which we are facilitating / creating by buying her … By giving that chicken some reiki it gentles / soothes that tear / fault line. I’ve had to think about this all day as it is very hard to put into words and this is as close as I can get to describing what I hold as an instinctive knowing - what is my truth and understanding of the world. I don’t expect or need it to be anyone else’s. I don’t want to impose it on anyone else either.@penny_less, it’s really hard isn’t it and so many people just don’t get it. Mr KK doesn’t understand it but since he walked in on me sobbing my face off whilst cutting meat up to make a goulash for him some years ago, he’s taken on most of his major meat cooking, which is a huge help. (Chops and whole fish are pretty triggering for me too.) Doing the reiki for the Christmas chicken helps me, as I feel like I am giving something back into the suffering and redressing some of the balance.@beanielou, yes, it’s not ‘logical’ to give reiki to a chicken (on soooo many levels 😉 I do see this on a ‘rational’ level - we are all both mind and heart and this routine soothes my heart) but for me it is about the honouring of the chicken as a once living creature and the blessing of what might be that animal’s next life - I have read enough and had enough strange experiences myself, that reincarnation doesn’t seem that unlikely to me.I have never, ever, ever discussed my beliefs, especially around the Christmas chicken, in so much detail before like this …! 😉😂

KajiKita said:@LadyWithAPlan, I give the chickens reiki to remove any stress or distress from the body before I cook it and feed it to Mr KK, so that stress / distress doesn’t get passed on to Mr KK. It’s something I learned from my American Buddhist teacher who lives in Japan, whose wife does it with all meat before cooking it for her family.
I also do it because I lived as a straight vegan for 4 years and did an animal communication course some years ago and although I sucked at it! 😉 I got enough insight into how chickens (and sheep interestingly 😊) see the world, that I want to give that individual chicken that is dead in my kitchen, something back for giving up their life to be food. I see it as helping them in the bardo and with their rebirth.I appreciate that for people who eat meat without a second thought this will all sound VERY odd (I did for years and years, but 8 years of praying daily, for the end of suffering for every sentient being, permanently changed something in me) 😉😊 but I struggle with having meat in the house and having a whole bird (I.e. a full corpse) is often horrific for me. This allows me to go through this process with a minimum of distress for me. It’s like an ethical compromise. 🤷♀️
For those that do reiki, if you try it, you will feel the difference before and after doing it in something like a chicken or even an animal you have come across that has been knocked down by a car.I appreciate that this won’t align with others’ views and some may even find it a bit challenging. If so, please be kind on my thread.KK
I was also veggie for years but it does not suit me healthwise no matter how many beans and veg I cooked
In Buddhism certainly the circle of life is there, bees get eaten by birds who get eaten by bigger things etc including us so giving thanks makes sense.. I will get my hands reiki-ing whilst thanking the sausages I am about to cook

I broke 5 years of strict veggie, plus about 2 years before of mostly veggie, with beef wellington and salmon on a New Years Day pub lunch. I then slept like a lion for the afternoon.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

Other things that happened today 😊
Big toscos shop came with some critical Christmas elements - Mr KK happy 😊
Between us we decluttered, rationalised and reorganised the Drawer of Doom in the kitchen without any arguments, aka the DIY drawer. It’s tidy now and we are both happy with it.
Lunch with my friend - good fun and it was her turn to pay. She did manage to get a 20% discount because her cousin is the cook there (the food is amazing 🤩) and was on the till when my friend paid … 😉
Whilst at the garden centre I bought myself a new cyclamen for the kitchen, as the one I have kept going for c. 4 years has died on me 😢 and I couldn’t bear to look at it any more. It has a chance to recover itself in the conservatory but if it doesn’t it will be off to the compost heap with it!Mr KK spent the afternoon in the garage playing with … sorry, sorry, working with! 😉 his new sand blaster. He’s very happy with that too. I meanwhile settled onto the sofa with cl@ssic FM calm and cross stitch. I came over feeling very tired and ended up having a little snooze with George on my lap … ❤️
Chinese takeaway this evening. First takeaway of any kind for c. 4 months we think … 🤔 It was alright but not as good as lunch! 😉😂
Strictly tonight - Tasha and Aliaj … just sublime … ❤️

You've just reminded me about a cyclamen someone gave us last Christmas. We had it indoors and then I planted it out in spring and it flowered right through and looked lovely. It was in the wooden trough but I haven't noticed it for a while so will check on it tomorrow if there's a pause in the rain.
ps very impressed with the Drawer of Doom sort out."Think of many things, do one"

Your drawer of doom inspired me to finally hoover the bicarb out of the new-to-me chest of drawers in the garden room and line the drawers (with wallpaper), and start putting stuff in them. It's good to have a few things out of the way - particularly as I have visitors tomorrow!3

I'm in Mr KK camp regarding food, but thank you everyone for sharing your beliefs and how your actions and rituals it has been very thought provoking.
I've had a cyclamen on the kitchen window sill for years, with plenty of foliage and regular long lasting flowers, earlier this year it went brown and dried up, despite me watering it, it stayed like that for 6 months plus and a couple of weeks ago a batch of healthy new leaves appeared 😊 no idea why it went dormant nor for so long, fingers crossed yours recovers too 🤞Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
