In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
@dawnybabes, @redofromstart, @Watty1, thank you for all the pond ❤️
It was my mum’s 50th birthday present to me - a really heavy duty liner and under felt 😊
We put it in when we had the drive done, I think the 2nd summer after we moved in here. We paid the digger driver c. £100 cash to help us with the excavation as he was already on site for the drive works. It’s c. 6 feet deep at the deepest, has a sloping ‘beach’ and shelves around the sides.I haven’t quite got the hang of planting and maintaining it yet, but I’m gradually wilding it and planting it up. I have planted a Judas Tree on the one side of the deck and Helenium Lemon Queen on both sides, with hostas. It gets a bit rough and shaggy through the season but the hedgehogs, dragon and Damsel flies don’t seem to mind too much 😊
One of the saddest things about the last job and my old boss making me work so many more hours towards the end, was that we lost the time we used to get at the end of every afternoon, after work, with a cuppa on the bench … Work life balance includes that for me …

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Managed to clear out the kitchen cupboard under the spices, which is where the light bulbs will go once the clear storage containers arrive …. Collated various remnants of packs of black peppercorns and table salt, so that saved quite a bit of space 😊
Did all my physio exercises and yoga this morning. Had a formal physio review this afternoon and she has signed me off for my shoulder, but recommended I go back to the GP to ask about my left knee.
I seem to have picked up some cleaning work … by accident… for a neighbour (who is really struggling with a young child and full time work) … Going round 3pm tomorrow to see what she wants done.
Had a nice time in the late afternoon today, alternating reading a novel and cross stitching 😊

I think for now, I will carry on as I am, with my focus on restoring my home and health until Christmas. If by then I haven’t got a role in place I will start looking at alternative revenue streams.KKAs at 15.08.25:
