Your energy is being used to heal, let it!
Also that is a productive day for any day let alone a Sunday.
I hear what you're saying about frittering, but as you say most of the money spent is on useful and needed stuff. Your situation is not dire and you are allowed little nice things to cheer you up. You've only been out of work for a few days, and I don't think a single person here is worried about you not being in another job soon.
Obviously cut out things that aren't bringing genuine joy, and make sure you go through TCB and £co where you can, and I respect and feel your anxiety about making sure the bills get paid for the foreseeable, but you are one of the most calm and unreckless people I've ever 'met' so don't let anxious guilty brain deprive you of small pleasures, especially while you're getting over the horribleness of your blessedly former workplace.
If however you've bought a new wardrobe of designer clothes, invested in a collection of vintage cars, or started ordering your grub from Harrods, stop it immediately! x

Stopping in to say hi - I’ve been reading your posts from the start over the past couple of weeks - I got to about page 140 then pressed the last page button with my fat fingers and couldn’t work out how to go back. All the gardening info and pictures are brilliant - I’m v much a novice at not killing plants. Sorry to hear you had to put up with so much carp at your job. I second the suggestion of Menorca for an easy place to get away to. I’m rubbish at being on holiday because I just don’t sleep away from home and stress too much but I do rate Menorca as the perfect little getaway.Mortgage at largest £280050 with MF date 2038 - current in the £160s whoop whoop4

No, I’ve not done any of those things, and I probably never would 😉😊
However, I did ring my mother this evening, who once again, and has been, even before I finished working, was pushing me yet again to start applying for a new job … methinks I might know where my conditioning has arisen … 😉🙄😊
In more positive news, Mr KK has done quite well at the militaria fair over the last two days - I don’t know exactly what he earned or spent, but it has given him enough that he has been able to ‘give me’ £140 from the revenue in cash, which I immediately gave back to him as my contribution to the next firewood delivery (we need to pay for two lots this time as the chap who delivers it never turned up for payment last time!) - this is good as it means that I didn’t have to take that cash out of my account.I gently reminded him of all the spends I have had recently:
- £999 mortgage arrangement fee
- £209 mortgage legal costs
- £232 builders merchant
- £289 new tv
- £700 labour for skimmer
and I gather he is hoping to do some transfers back to me once he gets another two weeks work under his belt. 😊
My settlement monies should land in my account this coming Friday. If it doesn’t, I have the HR lady’s personal mobile number ….

Which is a shame because it really really needs a mega prune and it's clearly not interested in packing up for the winter.
Which reminds me, I should start lifting and drying my begonias and dahlias ….

@MFWannabe, not really. I’ve never really been into clothes as such and I suspect what I have that I don’t want, wouldn’t sell very well on there.KKAs at 15.07.25:

When I left my carp job I immediately started at a new job. Wish I'd had a break to be able to unpack all the carp and get ready for the new one. Agree with Pennysintopounds that some healing is needed."Think of many things, do one"

I had a look with my plant app at your mystery plant from the pic you posted; 'Not sure what the thing on the left front is, but that is going to be chopped severely back and dug out'
The app which is not 100% accurate suggests its 'Rose-of-sharon, a species of St John's Worts (Hypericum)2 -
The air fryer cauliflower mentioned elsewhere, I had one that needed using but I'm not keen on plain boiled or 'rice'. Lots of ideas via Google including crispy coatings with gram flour but I just wanted something simple so I made it into florets, added some spray oil, garam masala and chilli powder, gave it a good stir to coat and then ten minutes in the air fryer till it was cooked but still had some bite. I had it with mint and yogurt dressing. I would make it again. Grated some cheese on top for the calcium. My leeks are looking promising but aren't they meant to be better for a frost? I've not grown them before. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

the cauli sounds good!Yes you definitely are recovering from shock, stress and work trauma. When a friend really wanted a job (to take over the mortgage from her ex partner) she applied online at 6.30 am and then called the relevant recruiter at 8.30am to talk about her applications
I suspect that kind of energy is beyond both of us at present but allow yourself to breathe a bit, funds allowing. When you need to get a job you will, your mse ways won’t let you go too long
plus ignore the guilt! It’s a useless emotionDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
