Ummm … a thing or two happened today ….
- Fairly significant safety near miss with a contractor in work. One of my reports hadn’t followed all the control of contractor rules and the HSE Manager was starting to rear up on my report in front of me, when I intervened and pointed out that if my report hadn’t followed protocol, that was on me as their manager not them. Oh and btw, I have never seen a copy of the control of contractors policy …. Report thanked me at the end of the day, just before going home - they are used to working in a blame culture, so to have a boss defend them was quite a shock to them.
- Useless report arrived early into work … 😳🙄 and then messaged HR privately on Teams as he thinks he can manipulate HR more than me to get what he wants …. HR is wise to this nonsense AND went to discuss it with my line manager (Colonel Colon) so that if Useless Report tries manipulating him, it won’t work … Colonel Colon 100% agreed with my decision, according to HR … wow ….
- I have been working on a new control process for a precious metal that we use in one our build processes as Colonel Colon is convinced that people will start pocketing it / stealing it …. 🙄So I had documented it all and took it into Col. Col and talked him through it, saying as I did so that he was always good to bounce these sorts of things off, as he always found holes in them well. We worked our way through it together, both seeing / suggesting improvements… and as we finished he said ‘Gut’ - completely naturally and spontaneously. Made me happy. I also reminded him of this praise, by thanking him for it, 10 minutes later, as I left for the day …. 😉
In other news, Mr KK has finally finished painting the bathroom in the final colour this evening 😊

Been bouncing emails and texts back and forth between mortgage advisor and us this evening. Think we’ve found a 5 year, 4.21% fixed rate with no fee with coop, who we are already approved with. I have said we will go for that option, assuming there is nothing else in the market. No win on the PBs … 🤷♀️😉
Mr KK put up the bespoke bathroom blind I bought months ago … it fits and looks lovely - phew! 😊
