Wow …. So many kind words and responses. I’m a bit dumbstruck by all your kindness. Thank you x
I am still proper tired. So very glad that I am not doing the commute today or tomorrow. Had a three hour, online training session this afternoon that I honestly don’t know how I got through. I am wiped now.
Can’t face cooking tonight and Mr KK is over at his mum’s tonight for company for her, and as my eating has been so pants today I might just admit defeat and get a chip shop tea 🤷♀️
I did manage to track down an old pension today that I had ‘lost’ - I thought I had been told that it had been sold on twice, but actually it only happened once, so I’m still with the second provider. The last valuation they have for it dates from 2011(!) but as it is final salary it is worth keeping an eye on, so they are sending me updated details. That was the last piece of information I needed for the finance coaching session I have booked for Monday. It must seem nuts doing something like this at this time, but I have been thinking about it for a long time and it is something that I am doing for me! 😊
Paid for the bathroom window from the house savings. My pay and bonus landed. I seem to have taken a massive hit in tax on my bonus so am not getting as much as I thought I would. Oh well, anything extra will help. I will work out how to allocate it when my head is clearer. We will need some for the bathroom and I want to treat myself to a crafting light, but any leftovers will have to go into savings to offset my recent car purchase.
Kitten news - wooden clothes pegs are the BEST toy to push, bounce and roll around with on wooden floors … 😉

But you have to put them away before bed, or you can hear them playing ping pong all night long.

Ping pong balls sound lethal … <makes mental note NOT to buy LCs ping pong balls! 😂>@beanielou they are. I wish they were a bit more affectionate but they certainly bring a fresh energy to the house! 😊🤩
Funeral date is fixed for 17th May and I have been asked to deliver the eulogy. 😳 (This makes two eulogies and a reading at funerals in less than a year! I’m starting to feel like a celebrant!! 😂😂). Bless him, Mr KK was hesitant about asking me as he was aware of all my losses recently, but I would genuinely be honoured. I have asked for material for everyone in the immediate family that I can shape into something. It will take some writing as he did so much in his life and Mr KK is anxious that none of the people who might turn up would feel left out / not mentioned. I will book the time off tomorrow - it’s a Friday so at least it rolls straight into the weekend. It will be right in the middle of the kick off phase of the gargantuan work project that is lumbering into view, but tough. My husband comes first 🤷♀️

Sorry for your loss. Hope Mr KK doesn't find it too distressing dealing with his mom. A good weep on each other is great but then hopefully then can pull out some pictures and find something to smile about.

Glad the kittens are raising a smile.
Well done on chasing up the pension. It is worth a lot I'm sure as it is a definite amount.
Best of luck with the rest. Trying to avoid trite remarks... as there is nothing that does the weirdness of grief and loss justice and the experience is so personal.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Sorry to read of the loss. However expected we can never really prepare for the loss. Sending love.
Glad the kitties are raising a smile with their antics. Maybe their energy can antidote a little of the grief.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I've just read your news KK, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad you were able to get some preparations done in advance around some of the finances and I hope that makes things at least a tiny bit easier for everyone, especially Mr KK and his mum, and therefore you too.
I too think it's perfectly normal and acceptable to be doing pension and 'normal' things at this point.
Big hugs to you all xxx2
