Strange day here.- Cleaned bathroom and loo
- Did missing shopping trip - treated myself to a happy yellow osteopermum. There were three in the pot so have split them out into three separate pots so I can plant them through the sit spot bed in a few weeks 😊
- Wrangled Mr KK’s washing
- watered the conservatory seedlings and I think I can see one of the pumpkins I saved seed from last year germinating …. 🤞
- Rearranged kitchen to ‘home’ the air fryer and showed Mr KK how to use it this evening
- Sliced up my latest sourdough loaf and got it in the freezer
- made courgette fritters for the first time. Reasonably edible 😊 Think I might use chickpea flour next time and add some seeds to make the texture a bit more interesting, but I have proved that’s a means for me to use courgettes that I grow 😊
- read some novel
- it was cold, bitingly windy and I ran out of time to do much in the garden but did a swift bindweed pull in the veggie patch and got all the border edgings cut if not mown
- Listened to Mr KK as he digested his experiences today, memories arising, hopes, expectations, fears etc. FiL’s hospital bed arrives tomorrow and then the fireman will bring him downstairs. SiL is staying there tonight (she had to help get FiL on and off the commode today so I think the reality is becoming very tangible for her in a way she has been denying up to now) and then Monday night. Mr KK is doing Tuesday and Wednesday night and I have said I will try and do Thursday and Friday night if my boss will let me work from home on Friday.
Am showered. Just have all my breakfast, lunch etc to do for tomorrow and then I can chill out.We are watching the GP highlights - what is Cat from Red Dwarf doing on there??? 😂😂

I really like courgette fritters, so many things you can do to spice them up. I use chickpea flour too. Denser but still tasty.
is Cat scent marking things? 'Mine! This is mine. Also mine' - a happy memory of Red dwarf for me.
much sympathy on the FIL front. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I’d forgotten the scent marking thing … 😂😂😂 Thanks for reminding me.Thanks for the FiL sympathy. For various reasons that I won’t share here (because it’s both grim and might be triggering for some) we don’t think he will be with us much longer than a week or so now. Poor soul. May it end soon ….

The secret is a hefty amount of baking powder to lighten up the gram flour. Carrot and courgette bhajhis are a big favourite in our house. As are onion and courgette bhajhis. They freeze well too. Courgette ribbons sauted in olive oil and garlic are divine. And they are lovely ribboned, blanched, and packed in jars with herbs in an oil and vinegar salad dressing, but they only last about 4 days in the fridge.
It is good that other people are going to be helping. It often gets shunted onto one person, and the others just rock up with scones for an hour and then go tell people ' how well they are doing' leaving a knackered and stroppy older person, who has been putting on a brave face, to get upset and confused about the whole thing, and taking it out on the nearest available person. I really hope the family rallies round, and that everyone gets to say their goodbyes. Sending love and hugs.
It is so hard, but there are always utterly inappropriate moments of hilarity that see you through, and Mr KK has you for a hug. A hug means so much at a time like this. It says everything.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Sending sympathies. I hope it passes as easily and as peacefully as it can for all of you.
Apparently I can't get these two pics the right way round, but another good recipe for glut season (adaptable for vegan I hope?) From Barbara Kingsolver's Animal Vegetable Miracle. They work even with the courgettes that got missed and turned into narrows.4 -
