The cost may be eye watering but he will at least be dressed for the 'slide not the ride' like any biker with sense

To be fair he did have kit, but all leathers and from when he gave up road bike riding 20 years ago so it’s all quite heavy and stiff, the gloves had shrunk / his hands have got bigger with age as had his boots / feet. Overall I think he’ll get plenty of use out of them and I want to him to be protected and enjoy the rides more 😊

We went on a big road trip last year, ferry and overnights etc.  I hadnt been on as pillion for more than the odd hour every year since I was pregnant (eldest is 21 this year) which shows you how old my kit is.  My lovely expensive but very old gloves etc just looked tired and felt clunky, even thought they still fit, and I bought replacements of gloves, trousers, jacket, (bluetooth!) lid etc  rather than risk anything. I might even exit the old stuff when I stop being nostalgic.  Some of the newer kit is just spot on, much less clunky than it used to be.  I have my eye on some kevlar leggings and a rather lovely leather jacket once I drop a dress size - my bribe to me.

It seems that there has been significant technical evolution in biking kit over the years. Mr KK was taken aback but how much helmets had changed when he went to buy one last year and then riding out a bit last year just showed him that his old kit was too stiffy and uncomfy.

Glad the barn dance was fun.   Interesting about the technical changes in gear, my first riding hats where essentially cardboard held on with a bit of knicker elastic :)   Today's is "this" and "that" and "safety harness" and "crash tested" and one isn't allowed to compete without certain safety standards on hat.

    How times change
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

I can’t imagine you being fat either.
I think of you as thin, fit & beautiful.
That’s my mental image of you 💜

@South_coast, thank you 😊 I’m physically quite strong - always surprises any blokes that don’t know me well 😉 but aerobically I am far too inactive (desk-jockey in my job and hate ‘exercise’ these days) and I think that aspect of my fitness is declining.

@beanielou - awww, that’s very kind of you 😊 I’m neither - I have a sparkle I can ramp up and down, but no beauty 😉
