Is your mortgage with NW? I am asking as mine is and I can’t work out how to do Tilly tidies to it, I seem to have regular OPs of lump sum options only.

As for your quandary I would go 50/50 - we all need some fun!

    Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

No, our mortgage is with Accord (a subsidiary of Yorkshire I think). We pay our regular amounts and any OPs from our joint NW account.
Surely you can just ‘send’ TT OPs to your NW mortgage as I do to Accord? You will need to ring them to find out the account details to send the payments to.
    I think I will split it 50/50 😊

Looks lovely and good to know the cat having an exciting life..

50/50 sounds like a good split. I have started 3 'wish farm' accts in my ynab so a small., medium and large 'wish' items so I am looking to pop extra cash in those longer term areas over time ...eg a pedicure is my small wish - would like to get one on a regular basis especially with all the walking I do and my feet looking sad.. but feels a bit frivolous beyond the once a year shellac I do before going away on holiday goven the bigger needs and wants .. so any little monies its nice to see that build

On the missing luggage I have been v fortunate despite a lot of travelling every year to not lose my luggage but those app*e airtags are v useful in these circumstances - I keep meaning to get one just in  case as people can at least tell the airlines where their bags end up .. hopefullly it will turn up soon

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

The purple flowering plant is I think called vinca or periwinkle.

Glad the cat made it out of the tree. How did you get up there?

  • Glad your case is on the way back.

Idea on the wish lists is
Make a  wish list of everything you want
Price it up as well as you can
    categorise into small, medium, large
(my small is under £100 but some say small is under £50 - up to you and your budget)

The Wish Farm  - Then pick one small, medium and a large one. Focus on just those 3 and as you get extra cash in or to utililse underspent amounts then you can choose to start funding them.

Once one is funded and bough you replace it with a new similar size 'wish'

I am liking it especially as having a record of all the things you want really clarifies how much you want x or y  - and googling cost values is v helpful in the focus

Re the laptop I have a separate Future Tech sinking fund for laptops and mobiles and other tech bits.. My macbook is £2k but lasts 7-9 years
I dont need a ipad so thats in the wishlist though as opposed to the future tech fund.
