Tip run done and rubble dumped. Car loaded with next batch for tomorrow morning’s run. Booked another slot for next week as we still can’t get it all in my car (well we could, but I would probably damage the suspension!). Cooling down with a pint of water in front of a fan now!KKAs at 15.07.25:

Books loosely filed. Craft books formally filed (priorities, priorities! 😉😂).
Had a quiet afternoon in front of the fan. After randomly watching one of the Stacey Solomon decluttering programs I have tackled a (small) cupboard in the kitchen that I have been procrastinating about for weeks! I have plenty of herbal teabags and kind bars, so won’t need to buy either of those for a while! 😉That program has given me some interesting insights and ideas on clutter, namely:
- be clear about what you want to use rooms for - I don’t think we have clarity on what we want to use the conservatory for, as an example. This reminds me of designing a garden in that you typically first decide *how* you want to use a garden (eating area, play area, herbs are etc etc) and *then* design the garden. But houses come largely predefined and you have to somehow fit your life into these pre designed spaces.
- organising is a whole art form and skill in itself. It reminds me of the kind of organising you see in industrial environments with shadow boards, lots of labelling of shelves etc.- emotional attachment is a huge part of the ‘why’ of clutter - they did some clever things with the really emotional elements that the mother of the family didn’t want to let go of - displaying photos cleverly, making memory blankets out of baby muslins etc.
I am going to keep watching and gleaning ideas.KKAs at 15.07.25:

savingholmes said:Glad the decluttering programme helped. DK White is a good one on Utube too.Starting to feel a bit more human. Have managed to do some decluttering and cleaning of the conservatory, in between fan breaks. We had rain here this morning which cooled things a little bit but mainly made it even more humid! 🥵Found a cheap source of comfrey pellets (food of the gods as far as plants are concerned, it seems!) as they are excellent but eye-wateringly expensive from where I first bought them. That allowed me to bin the empty box in the conservatory!
Tip run coming up shortly but at least the car is already loaded, and YES Mr KK, you *are* coming with me as you have overfilled some of those rubble bags and I am NOT struggling them into the skip at the tip on my own! 😉

Tip run completed and got home just before the heavens opened and it rained heavily for about an hour.More tidying of the conservatory means I got to the big plastic stage box we keep the winter sunflower seed in for the birds. Bit more rationalisation later and the box of two big bags of seed has moved from the front hallway (where it has been for about two months - ahem), the bags are safely stashed in the big box and the redundant boxes and other rubbish is either binned or recycled as appropriate 😊
Mr KK has also cut back the expanding foam flush to the wall at the joint between floorboard where the flying ants suddenly erupted into our snug a few weeks ago! 😂

I have been talking to Mr KK about the decluttering programme and what it is inspiring me to do - there is a whole cupboard of shoes upstairs that I could clear out to CS as I know I haven’t touched any of of them in the three years since we moved here! That in turn would make room for blankets which *might* mean I could get rid of one of the three chests of drawers in my room which would make it feel a whole lot bigger! There is a funny shallow cupboard in the kitchen set in an old external door recess that needs clearing, cleaning and rearranging. The drawer units in my office / craft room need a brutal going through. If I can get the mini vacuum cleaner, that I bought when I lived away for work, clean (it smells mouldy when you use it - not sure if it has a filter?). There might be enough space on the upstairs landing to stash it down the side of the bookcase there, which would would save lugging a vacuum cleaner upstairs to vacuum upstairs, which in turn would help us do it more regularly iyswim. There will be more (much more!) but those jobs would be a good start 😉I think all this talk of me clearing out my stuff is making Mr KK feel a bit guilty! 😉😂
I, however, feel a nice project chart, with dependencies, coming on …..! 🤩😂

The itch was so bad that I went and checked out that vacuum cleaner ….
It does have a filter. Had to be unscrewed and then cleaning the filter was challenging, but I think it’s done 😊 Needs to dry for 24 hours now.
The outside of it needs a good wipe down and clean and then I can get it up upstairs! Whoop!🤩
