I have used my week off as a chance to try to try to catch up with my aunt. This was in part promoted by a very strange text from her late last Thursday asking me to ring her at 7am Friday to get her up to go to the GP after two weeks in hospital. At that time I am driving to work so Mr KK rang her on the Friday morning. There was much talk of what they’d done for her in hospital - rehydrated her, filled her with vitamins etc.I then tried to ring my aunt this morning but she didn’t pick up. So I texted my cousin (her mum is my aunt’s sister). My cousin then gave me the truth of what has been going on - my aunt is still drinking hard and when my cousin went round there one day was throwing up and falling over so my cousin took her to hospital where she was admitted for two weeks but then my aunt discharged herself so she go home. She is still drinking. How she is still vertical and above ground is beyond me. What she has consumed over the past few months would have poisoned most people months ago.The whole situation is running my cousin ragged - her mum and dad are elderly and needing care and she just doesn’t have the bandwidth to cope with a raging alcoholic who doesn’t actually want, or see any good reason to stop. And she isn’t likely to find one after so many months after my uncle died now. My cousin says she feels resigned. I said that I have felt resigned ever since I got back from my uncle’s funeral. I gave my cousin ‘permission to step back’. She laughed at first, but I told that although it can sound trite, having that permission from someone who understands the dynamic, can help with the guilt. At that point she said she got goosebumps so hopefully she will.Feeling pretty ick about the whole thing. 😞

After drying out in hospital for 2 weeks & the first thing she does is get herself out & drink again, I doubt there is very much either of you could do. If the hospital didn't commit her to rehab well! How bad was she before your uncle died. I suspect nearly as bad & he covered for her, it seems to happen a lot.

Yes, she was an alcoholic for years and dried out but then my uncle got really sick with Parkinson’s, she started again then to cope and she has never really stopped since.badmemory said:After drying out in hospital for 2 weeks & the first thing she does is get herself out & drink again, I doubt there is very much either of you could do. Oh KK I'm sorry to hear this. We have a drug addict in the family and it's really hard on every one when they just can't see the harm they doing to people... Or if they care at all3

Just such a waste. But I can also understand why she finds the world such a scary place these days 🤷♀️Crazycatlady2 said:Oh KK I'm sorry to hear this. Tablecloth back on the table, table laid for dinner 😊 Mr KK has volunteered to cook tonight 🎉🤩❤️
Cat taken to vet to find out why she is not eating. No obvious causes (temperature okay, no abdominal tenderness, not significantly dehydrated, not lost any significant weight) - on watch and see for a couple more days and then blood tests if no change - that cost me £52.50 for nothing but the cat being stressed and fiddled with 🙄 Stoopid cat! Just eat!!! 😢
That’s on top of the £222 bill I paid for the builders merchant this morning.
Done some more tapestry this afternoon whilst listening to an interview. Still struggling with the greens - think I’m just going to have to bite the bullet and ‘get it wrong’ 🤷♀️😉
Starting to plan for our day trip to the Gower tomorrow 😊 🐚☀️🌊

I have had this tapestry for a long time. I think I got it in Morecambe when we were last up visiting my parents - so a number of years again now. Nice to get it moving again 😊

Mr KK has just been a responsible adult and come in, with his phone logged into his bank account, asking how much he should transfer across for his contribution to all of today’s bills! Wow … 🤩👏😊❤️
