On really big jobs (like our conservatory) I start with one small job - removing one box, clearing one piece of furniture and then stop. I have a break and then as I wander past the area again, I deliberately notice the effect of the one area I have cleared - that generally incentivises me to do another bit and so on. I have learned to stop before it starts feeling chorey/heavy/dreary.skint_spice said:I love watching the Dana K White videos but I need to follow through with some action 😂KKAs at 15.10.25:

I tried the 15 minutes thing but I often find I end up with jobs half done at 15 minutes, which I hate. I either walk away and the job is left half done (ugh!) or it becomes a slog if I carry on because I promised myself I would only do 15 minutes! (I know, I’m crazy, right! 😂)beanielou said:

Have emailed a possible garden contractor to possibly help with keeping the bindweed down in the veggie patch next year. This may be too way expensive an option, but I want at least to look at it as an option!
Have also emailed the Japanese Knotweed contractor that the vendor appointed to see if they will be willing to issue a certificate to us for our land being clear of JKW this year. That would help significantly with the cost of the house insurance renewal that I need to start looking at. Almost 4 years since we moved here! 😳🤩❤️KKAs at 15.10.25:

Had a good first day back at work. Cleared my inbox - nothing too scary, my team have made good progress on many things in my absence, good OPs review with the scary French-Canadian divisional manager (team effort that one, but I am always last, so I now try to finish with a ‘good news’ improvement slide 😊)and I actually managed to knock over a couple of small tasks. Not bad for the first day back after a week off and a still sore head!
Loads fresher and bit cooler here tonight, so have finished cleaning down the vacuum cleaner I started last night but I won’t reassemble it yet as I don’t think the filter is quite dry. Completed a new declaration of interests form for the Parish Council. Got the recycling out for the collection tomorrow and just about to start the tea-lunch-breakfast-all-at-once-prep! If I can get all that done before dinner, I can have a proper ‘evening off’ as all my chores will be done ….

Well done on the tip run and decluttering. I don't know where you find the energy for the PC but they need good people so well done you.
I found DKW's book really good on decluttering - particularly listening to it on audible. She helped me make the final push with my house to get it sale ready. I listened while doing to help motivate myself. I think I also used pictures in my head of my ideal holiday cottage scenario to try and get the amount of stuff I retained visibly at least to a holiday cottage level. I'm getting my cleaner to help with the continued thinning out - and in a milestone for me didn't check what she chucked last week.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well done on the decluttering!I love those SS shows where they put all your stuff in a warehouse !I am away on an unexpected but fun business trip so only have a small suitcase .. amazing how I manage without loads of stuffDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
