    Hi Jade,

Please try not to worry about something that hasn’t happened yet. If the worst happens, I honestly believe that as one door closes another opens.

You’re on the home run now with your debt, soon to be debt zero, definitely the right thing to sit down and re-evaluate!
If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

Hey! I’m not worried as such now, I feel sad for the ones that have been made redundant. It’s hard to describe I feel guilty for keeping my job but I also need to pay my rent at the end of the day.

Yes agreed, I’m going to get myself a cuppa and sit down and go through it.

    Morning all,

So things are still bumpy at my main work but the company I applied to work for a while ago have jobs going again so I’ve emailed them and see where to go from there. Last time I didn’t accept as it was only 24 hours but they now have 30 hour contracts going.

Would 30hours be enough for you?

Currently yes as I’m not in as much debt as I used to be. There’s not a guarantee that I’ll be made redundant from this job yet anyway but it’s there as a back up I guess and 30 hours is better than 0 haha

Don’t be to quick to jump then. Your job might be safe now, if not then you’ll get a wee redundancy payment and a Sainsburys job should you need it.

I’m not, but I don’t think my job is safe here anymore and I don’t want to feel unsure about it for a while either. So I’m going to speak with my team leader and see what he says.

    Hi Jade,

IF the time comes and your main job decides to start making contractual changes or redundancies, please consider carefully how the new scenarios affect you PERSONALLY.
Also, I highly recommend a conversation with ACAS in the event of a major change in working arrangements.

Whatever happens, my biggest piece of advice I can give is, do what you need to do for YOU, as your health and well-being must come first.

    Morning Frugal,

well, yesterday the 3 people who had pre warning redundancies letters all had a meeting to basically say that the process of the redundancies has started and basically they’re all going by Wednesday. I agree, I said to one of the girls I work with that I feel guilty that I’ve still got the job because I don’t 100% like working here. I think it’s going to become a lot more stressful on myself and the girl I work with which is what made me want to leave last time. Also our boss said to keep an eye out for any other jobs that we may want to apply for because nothing is guaranteed here right now.

Seems a very strange thing for a boss to say, sounds like he’s trying to avoid paying a redundancy payment and get folk just to leave. I remember about 20  years ago our work was closing (we didn’t know) two people were buying new houses and we had a big meeting and we’re told all losing our jobs. I remember the boss crying with them woman who were buying the houses. Because she new they’re were going to lose their jobs but she wasn’t allowed to say anything.

If it gets too much and feel like their taking advantage then you can look for something else.
