It sounds as though it was your choice to cancel the first time, because you didn’t like the isolation requirement?VicciB said:When the original holiday was booked, COVID wasnt even a thing, all this has transpired after the booking which I and no1 has any control over. They wouldnt let us cancel without losing the entire holiday amount as the restrictions were brought in approx 35 days before travel for my first holiday in August of last year.
Had I booked a holiday AFTER the whole pandemic I get it, but the holiday was effectively booked and fully paid for pre March 2020
in which case they are quite right that if you cancel it’s a a total loss.
Although COViD didn’t exist it has always been the case that is you choose to cancel at a late stage then there is no refund.
if you have insured reasons then you’d get your insurance involved.
if you don’t have a medical exemption then you are going to find travel more difficult going forwards and possibly a few other things as well.
It’s not the companies fault that things have changed either.0 -
Simple, get vaccinated. Your local pharmacy can help.I am relationship expert. Don't feel shy, say hello.3

Given the motivation for travel is a holiday the reason for not being vaccinated is likely to be irrelevant... countries will give exceptions to entry requirements in some circumstances but they tend to be more along the lines of visiting a terminally ill relative rather than to have a jolly.Carrot007 said:I would expect it depends on why you are not vaccinated. If it is becuase you can't be I would expect possibly. Though noit definately. If it is your choice I would expect nothing.0 -
I've been on holiday to countries where a Yellow fever vaccination was mandatory to enter, including a certificate.
At this point in the Covid-19 pandemic there's very little difference.2 -
Yes but that has been a long-standing policy in most yellow-fever affected countries. The OP here bought their ticket before "Yellow fever" existed.bagand96 said:I've been on holiday to countries where a Yellow fever vaccination was mandatory to enter, including a certificate.

In any case, despite being fully vaccinated myself, I respect the right of others to chose.3 -
No one is disputing the right to chose. Just that one has to accept the consequences of ones own choices.michael1234 said:bagand96 said:I've been on holiday to countries where a Yellow fever vaccination was mandatory to enter, including a certificate.

They shouldn't apply retrospectively.Thrugelmir said:

The OP could have travelled last July and chose not to. Choice was made to defer.michael1234 said:

But border entry requirements are no more the fault of the airline or tour operator than they are the passenger.michael1234 said:

I’m not sure what that even means.michael1234 said:

when you book a holiday, you’re going to be subject to the FCO rules, flight schedules, weather, entry requirements, laws etc. at the time you go not at the time you book.
Not everything is someone else’s responsibility.
so for example a requirement for home isolation (and the associated loss of income) is not anyone else’s liability.
In a perfect world nothing would change but that’s not the real world,
there is quite a lot of protection for consumers but it’s not 100% e.g. costs of isolation after a holiday.4
