Shocking electricity meter reading

Hi all
thanks for your replies. We have been submitting in this way since we bought this house, our primary concern is the readings in the last two days suggests a significant increase in use since September. Are you saying it’s our error in reading? Prior to current readings our readings have remained largely consistent with a fairly even use of electricity. With your comments in mind, it is still showing over 1000kwh of use since end of September0 -
What was your last reading prior to September, and do you have a photo of it?PatB said:Hi all

Given that the average annual consumption is 2900kWh and that the past three months will have been colder and darker than average, your consumption seems entirely normal.0

Hi all
thanks for your comments. I will dig out figures for pre-September but we stayed consistent with previous owners methods of reading. So I am guessing we have read it wrong but how do we now correct this so that I don’t end up with a ridiculous bill
this also doesn’t explain the increase in reading in just one day.Sorry all, you can probably tell… I’m not that clued up with all of this0 -
No they're 1176 and 1193, so a consumption of 17kWh. So with all due respect, if this daft meter can baffle a former meter reader, what chance does the average consumer have?Verdigris said:That meter type normally has 5 integers. The decimal point is often only one pixels and easily missed. The readings are 11762 and 11931, so a consumption of 169kWh.(Former meter reader)7 -
Gerry
from your experience. What reading would I submit now given that previous readings have been in the format I have noted above.
I plan to call them Tuesday to discuss but not sure what our options are0 -

I was looking on a tablet when I first replied. Looking on a my PC with a decent screen I can see there are 3 decimals and 4 integers. I've never seen that before. What use is a meter that goes "round the clock" in a couple of years of normal consumption. Something isn't right. The meter is the supplier's responsibility; get them to fix it.
