Honey_Bear said:My new year's resolutions are to set the timer for five minutes and actually clean something for those five minutes, rather than tidy up and put away which is what I spend most of my time doing, and to also sort out one space a day. So far so good on both counts. I always start the year well and then it falls by the wayside but at this point if I can get some of the knee deep dust off the tops of cupboards by spending five minutes a day on doing so that will be progress. Today the drawer I sorted was overflowing when I tried to cram something else in it, so I sorted it out. I'm sad to see my collection of paper bags in the recycling bin but just because my mother collected every signle paper bag she was given when shopping doesn't mean I need to. (I saved the pretty ones, though. Gently does it.)
5 minutes blitz eh? *rubs chin*
The half-term's RE lessons for Y1 are planned and resourced. BOOM!
Going to clean something now...want to be back here by 15:00 to watch our glorious leader answer questions. There will be swearing.

5 minutes blitz eh? *rubs chin*My five minute idea is based on Dana K White's 5 Minute Pickup which works for me. I can get a lot done in 5 mintues, whereas looking at a long list of things to do just makes me feel defeated. I can kid myself I will only have to do five minutes worth but inevitably I then want the job finished for the feeling of satisfaction. Suffice to say it expanded to 30 minutes today but if anyone had told me to dust the top of the cupboard at the head of the bed, knowing that that meant dusting and washing the intricate candlesticks as well as Belovéd's propeller thing (don't ask), and fevver dusting the fronts, for all of which a step ladder was required, I'd have put it off. I know this because I've been putting it off for two years. 'Trust me,' my inner voice said, 'I'm only going to require you to do five minutes and then you can put the step ladder away. Honest injun.' My inner voice lied as it always does on those occasions but I set the timer for five minutes and that meant I could start the job which really is the only part that bothers me. Once I start I'm fine.Emails decluttered and some filed. That's another ongoing job that I can't see ending any time soon but if I nibble away at it for a few minutes each day at some point the Inbox will start to look okay again and I'll know where to look to find things. A few bits of paper chucked and last year's receipts bundled up to go into the attic. I keep them for six years and just yesterday thanked a deity of some description that I do because I will have need of some that are two to three years old for this year's tax return.Better is good enough.9 -

Evening all.
I’ve just had a look at the lists, and, yep, I’ve started the year by avoiding the kitchen - again. Today was my first day back in the office since Christmas Eve, so it has been just about get through the minimum of the dailies. Dinner cooked, WULTD, swept kitchen floor, cleaned the sink, and did HHI. Wm loaded for the morning.
YL - thank you for asking. We survived another hospital visit. Waiting for an mri appointment, and then hopefully no need to go back for 3 months.
Is it just me, or is anyone feeling that Valli might be getting fluffy mule moment with HB's 5 minute blitz method? Where is the eek when you need it 😋.
I’ve taught myself to knit in the round - very excited, although all the skilled knitters are fully entitled to roll their eyes. Latest project is now knitting legwarmers for DD. They might end up being ankle warmers though!8 -
Good evening!
I am late to the party - again! But I have been busy 😁
I finally tested negative on Monday (day 11), and we had roast turkey for dinner. DD2 & future SiL came for dinner and we did presents - at last! I took the dog for a walk and decided while I was out that I would take another day off this week & not go back to work until Thursday!!
Tuesday I was busy flying - LR has been de-Christmassed & tidied. Kitchen cleaned.
Today (my bonus day!) I retrieved car seats & the buggy from the summerhouse, and some of the toys. I also visited my mum, and took her to the big hobby shop. I had a voucher from my sis, and I have bought more wool! The baby blanket is on hold (not needed until July!) and I have started knitting a hat (for me! - needed now 😂)
I have also completed my tax return, and paid my tax bill 😨 (gulp!) Fortunately I have been sensible and put money away each month, so it is covered 😉
Hugs, sticks & spoons to those that need them 😁 I had better sleep now, as I need to get up tomorrow! 😱
Night night all x9 -
Fayolle.. well done
.. a lot of seasoned knitters falter over knitting in the round!
GI .. thats good news. I hope you got many wonderful things and had a wonderful family time xx
DS1 has just gone back to work today after having the plague, DIL went back today and Fabian went back to school.. my sis (who got it second) is sat at home.
Picked up 2 more bags of N£xt bargains for the girls to grow into and to keep me warm.. I ordered jumpers for me because no one else needed anything really. I got summer shoes for me, I need to see if my porky trotters fit in and some Lelli Kelly boots for Twinkle for next winter.. no way I am buying those things full price! OH got jeans.. I am sick of him being scruffy!
Pack ups done, DW done, cats fed, uniforms found.
Small was very sad and freezing cold when she came out of school. If she continues to be cold in school I will be keeping her at home.. how are they supposed to put energy into learning when their body is using every bit of energy to stay warm?? She is 5, she does not need this! Friday she is going in wearing her super warm tracksuit (pe day) and if she isn't toasty when she leaves she isn't going in next week.. I will maybe discuss it with school.. or I may not!
