Hi guys, hopefully we will have time to chat about what our expectations are while we are away 😊 that’s what kicked off the 33 month challenge last year- while we away we had a chat about our life.On the ship and although we went in it in 2014, I barely remember it all 😆 it’s a bit old fashioned and small but all good so far, as we booked an early saver fare (waaay cheaper) we don’t choose dining arrangements and have been allocated the same table of 8 every night for the whole cruise, I can’t cope with that so hopefully they do a queue system as well, will find out later 😱 I wouldn’t want to eat with my own family every night on holiday , let alone strangers 😂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3

But I do think spending on what gives one joy is important. It is how I decided to stay an extra week in the States last week - relatively little spend - the flight change - and I got to swim daily, chill and swim in luxury at my friends
@newgirly yes I am the 'she could have made so much more money if she had bought a house then/ didnt change jobs/ stop travelling' part of the whole family - However I am fit, happy, v healthy, free and had a truly wonderful life so far and plan to continue it!
Though most of my travelling I manage to do as work trips or can work on laptop etc so best of both worlds. Its all about our personal choices and not going into debt to fund whilst also keeping half an eye on the future.
@daisy_1571 love that about your SOI guess the saving so hard for something really cements the cost of it...
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I haven't heard of Caleb Hammer, will check him out. I struggle with most American podcasts - they are just too upbeat for me. But I just love being nosy and hearing how other people deal with money. I'm so judgemental and just want to shout at people!
Listening to Ramit has just made me realise that I'm not enjoying my money enough and although I want to be mortgage free, we also need to live well at the same time. On that note, enjoy your holiday NG!Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years
Re-mortgage Oct 2017 - 78,295 over 23 years
Re-mortgage Jan 2020 - 55,000 over 26 years @ 1.94%

An extra week in the US seems a fantastic way to spend a bit extra Lady with a plan!Cruise going well, ship a lot more old fashioned than usual but smaller so more open decks. So far we have seen the northern lights on three occasions from the ship, up in the night twice and last night when we were heading out the door for back tie night dressed up 😂 missed that of course!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6

That’s incredible- northern lights also on my list
glad you enjoying the cruise - I love them! Being on boats and being taken across oceans .. I am a traveller at heart
yes it was the right decision to extend my trip but as I have started tracking all non essential spend daily it’s amazing to see where it’s all going (I.e not in deposit fund!) so I am tightening up now
@Bargainhunter30 be prepared to yell v loudly at the Caleb YouTube then !He is a bit annoying but he finds these Americans who are spending insane amounts on takeaways manicures car payments.. with huge student loans often also ..DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
