Hopefully I can use the credit card tomorrow when the new statement is generated fingers crossed, starting my new April budget.

Im going to (supermarket) shop totally at Lidl, except for avocados which I get in M amd S as they do a cheap net bag full which last longer and are smaller, and some items in Poundland/wilko. Definitely trying to avoid local small tescos as the prices can be crazy now.

It sure how to meal plan for the month, I never know when ds1 and partner will be here they just appear either separately or together, they are no trouble - like last night I wasn’t expecting them and he said he would go out buy stuff and cook for them which he did. However I’d like to always have easy things in that are fresh and healthy. Batch cooking to freeze doesn’t work for us as I can’t take it out to defrost in the morning as I don’t know who’s here in the evening until the evening 😂 plus we only have one small freezer now.

    So starting Saturday:

    • Saturday- spag Bol beef and turkey versions, Mexican salad rice bowl for me

    • Sunday- roast chicken dinner with home make spuds with veg and stuffing

    • Monday(dd and her dh round to watch succession)- homemade pizzas, coleslaw, ice lollies

    • Tuesday:air fryer chicken strips and salad in fajitas with wedges
    •
    • Wednesday: sausages (meat/chicken/ veggie) mash/veg
    •
    • Thursday: Greek salad, chicken thighs, homemade flatbread and humous
    •
    • Friday: Chicken curry and pilau rice with Nan
I’ll be bulk buying the first shop of things that won’t go off to get the most out of the discount voucher.

Will also buy a £5 primark gift card via tcb as they are doing £2 bonus on any spend today only 😊

  • Your doing so well.I know it’s hard work particularly as food prices are going up. I prefer Aldi to Lidl but have a Lidl down the road. I always make sure I get my free sourdough loaf each month. x

Hi MMP, I prefer Aldi too and it’s actually nearer than Lidl but the car park is tiny and they charge £2.20 for an hour parking.

Went to Lidl today but the credit card statement hasn’t been created so I didn’t want to risk a massive food bill on march’s statement, so just spent £57.36 and didn’t use the 10% off voucher, I’ll stock up in the week instead.

The credit card statement due on the first is is not made yet, hopefully Saturdays shop will not move to the next months statement 😩

Will do a plan today of how to make up the financial shortfall, dh has said he can give me a bit but it’s not enough by a long way. I spent £101 odd in Costco on trousers and shorts for him last week so that needs to come out of it too. Sounds spendy but they do four way stretch smart trousers that look like normal but are very comfy and smart ish, they do sound awful but honestly they are not 😂 anyway they are £14 odd a pair in there but they have never had them in since the first lot about three years ago, so now they  are back I’ve stocked up on those and the short version.

Meal plan going well, except I have a spare plated up roast dinner as I thought ds1’s girlfriend was here yesterday but she left first thing 😆 tonight is succession viewing night, no ds1 but an extra dd and her dh, I’m making homemade pizzas for the first time in ages, throwback to lockdown when we had no room in the fridge or freezer for luxuries like pizza so I had to make them !

Right well, I’ve overspent a lot! What with vets bills , washing machine (0% credit over 12 months but first payments )  a few clothes 😩 anniversary money for ds2 not budgeted for etc. After dhs help I’m £207.54 short, rather than carry this over a long time paying it off over decided to:

    •  cash in the £100premium bonds I’ve saved this year
    • Requested 22p from tcb 😂
    • Transferred 85p I’ve earned on a now empty account
    • Transferred the £48.99 personal spending money I had left for the month
    • £57.41 borrowed from mays money- it’s the new monthly amount I have surplus
I shall try and squeeze by this month paying for any coffees out when meeting people using the grocery budget on the cc 😱 at least this way if I can scrape through I’ll be square!

I used the Lidl 10% off code, lost the mental total I was totting up while I was going around 😂 but I ran out of trolley room anyway! Spent £122.23 getting £16.92 off, all stuff that will keep like soup beans jars of sauce etc, pesto, pasta etc.

Still need to buy some food for dinner this week too 😩 Last nights homemade pizza was great and although a faff well worth it in terms of enjoyment and cost.

Topcashback are doing a special of £2 cashback if you upload a photo of a receipt of any eater egg £2 or over from any shop today, will be going out later to get one 😊 oh, also had a free chocolate unicorn in Lidl yesterday as it was on my app, not sure if that’s run out yet or not.

My egg cashback is payable already!

    Spending today:

    • £16.59 (£2 cashback coming) Lidl food
    • £2.25 wilko pegs and wipes
    • £9 Coffee and toast in Costa with friend, my turn
    • Primark £18.50
    • Cex £42 on a Wii 😁
The Wii is something I was going to buy with birthday money, but that went on vets bills. Found our old one when clearing out the garage and bought a fit board but the console was broken, so I’ve got another so I can exercise at home. This was quite naughty on a tight budget but the desire to exercise doesn’t strike often 😆
