hang the curtains up whilst they are drying. I've found they dry flatter if the are hanging in place rather than draped over a clothes horse or even pegged out on the line. Drying flatter means easier ironing

Very true! I did this with mine when I had to wash them after my old cat decided they were the best place to throw up and they were fine without ironing.daisy_1571 said:hang the curtains up whilst they are drying. Challenge update time and I’m now at £618.30/£1000 after getting coffee seeing dd yesterday as well as buying very reduced curtains 😬 They are to go across the conservatory finally, the house is pretty cold now so i’m not sure there will be any heat for them to save 😆 There should, be enough food still for a little bit, I could do with some fruit but will maybe get that Monday. I do try and avoid any food shopping at weekends except the local corner shop, however I’d never buy fruit there it looks rather old. I’ll make up a big batch of lentil dhal again tomorrow after ds2 half inched loads for himself and dil the other day, he pops by for parcels or post and rarely leaves empty handed, took my nice garlic naan too!
Things have been rather stressful of late with family, both with the kids and extended family taking it in turns to cause worry or awkwardness 😩 I’ve been contemplating running away from home and perhaps booking a world cruise, would that be irresponsible I wonder? I mean I’d be very warm and well fed for a few months, it’s tempting at the moment, just need to find tens of thousands of pounds and I could do it!

Aren't there people that sell their homes and then go and live on a cruise ship? I feel like that would be perfect for you! 😀Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000. Mortgage Free November 2025!4

We had one of those cruises docked in Belfast for months. People bought permanent cabins, but they couldn't get the motor working to set off around the world!Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years
Re-mortgage Oct 2017 - 78,295 over 23 years
Re-mortgage Jan 2020 - 55,000 over 26 years @ 1.94%
Current Mortgage Outstanding Middle December 2020 - £47893.35 - a reduction of £42,652 in just over 6 years!3 -
I've heard of that too! Apparently for some people it's actually cheaper than keeping a home in the UK. Just saying, NG....Jessy103 said:Aren't there people that sell their homes and then go and live on a cruise ship? I feel like that would be perfect for you! 😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

🤣 I feel like the people that choose to live on cruise ships full time are weirdos, perhaps a month on a ship then month at home would be better, I might get bored after a bit 😬 I remember that ship on the news that didn’t go anywhere, sounds awful! That said, I am still pining after some sea air and a decent buffet…Feeling sorry for myself at the moment, I haven’t got best friend to moan at as she is in Mauritius - selfishly without taking me and going with her family instead 😩 So my Monday morning moans are here instead:
- I can’t lose weight, it’s much harder than before all the medication plus I feel dizzy when cutting right back and I’ve put on a stone and a half.
- kids, family tensions and stressful situations re both
-dh being busy still all the time - work and setting up work with the guy he gave it to
- having so much to pay out for and not renting the factory out yet
- the house being so flipping cold, I’ve got curtains now, dh put the rail up yesterday so I’ll hang today but it’s freezing 🥶
- holiday not until April which seems a long way away
- blood levels haywire, food seems stable so it’s either stress or I read changes in temperature can affect it too 😒
- kids clutter that needs to go in the shed (which is pretty full already) as one has no room and one is waiting for dh to help him board his loft, then I can decorate the last room before Xmas.
Phew, that feels better, at least for me anyway 😆Plans for today :
- take mum to shops
- wash and dry on heated airer
- research and possibly buy a small low kw heater for when alone all day instead of heating , the cats have their bed next to heated airer on the sofa upstairs so they cuddle up and are ok, I’m getting cold now though and apparently am not supposed to have big temperature changes with the heart issues I’ve had, wasn’t so bad last year as I put the heating on sometimes with some kids still here, feels a bit frivolous for just me though but I’m thinking I’m being stupid and need to do it.- cook a lentil dhal in the sc
- change sheets
- hang curtains ( pencil pleat, I’m rubbish at it!)Spending hasn’t gone up much, I spent £4.05 on ice cream at the cinema yesterday, we went to see the Springsteen film with ds2 , total now is £622.35/£1000 but food needs buying today 🙂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
It is good to have a moan now and then. Not putting the heating on when it is just you is not good you need it for your health and wellbeing. If there are things you have to cut back on it does not need to be that one! Hope you rent out the factory soon it is so frustrating waiting (I can only compare to waiting for a buyer for my house earlier this year).
I agree with you on hanging curtains it is a royal pain.
