I don’t know Watty, if I’d not been asked to have it last year I wouldn’t why it’s a no this year, just cut backs maybe, that’s what the receptionist alluded to anyway 🤷♀️
Hospital blood check today, and they rebooked me from an appointment as if I’d missed one Tuesday , very odd as they wrote Friday in my appointment book and I was away Tuesday.so I’ve got a “naughty” slot as if I missed it or requested an extra appointment which is later at end of clinic and thus very hard to drive to as the car park I’d full at about 8.30 am 😩 so I’m debating trying or taking two buses each way 🤔 might ring dad as he often goes into a property he has round the corner there to do stuff, so I might get a lift one way maybe…
This weekend dh is working and out drinking Saturday with his ex work colleagues, I’ve no idea if my brother is going. Things have been polite and they have seen each other three times now but it’s still very awkward to say the least. Anyway I’ve decided to paint the box room to keep myself busy, choices are the leftover cream from the front bedroom or white which I think I might go for. I’ve got some sale thermal curtains from next on order for £21 but I have a return voucher that more than covers it that I’ve had a while so no real spend! I did however buy a ceiling light shade for £4.99 yesterday, as well as breakfast as it’s my turn this week so a £14.98 spend so a new total of £504.97 /£1000 - I’ve hit the half way mark early!Ds2 had dinner here again last night, third time cooking this week which is lovely for me, dil is working lates so we have been going to the cinema together and he goes past my house on the way home so invites himself to dinner 😆 last night I did frozen “emergency dinner” chicken in bread crumbs, homemade frozen roast potatoes and a mix of fresh and frozen veg. Not expecting him again this week, but tonight I might do a lentil dhal and homemade Nan as I’ve not done that for ages and can do a big batch and freeze. Dh can have last nights diner reheated as he weirdly wasn’t hungry.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
It’s got chilly this weekend all of a sudden, I’ve been indoors for a lot of it so have been using the heated blanket a little in the evenings. I’m do like to sleep with the roof window open near us unless it’s actually freezing so getting in under that is lovely 😆
First coat done on the box room, it’s going to take many coats from dark green to white I think! Managed a quick trip to the cinema yesterday with ds2 and dil to see the Corpse Bride anniversary showing, what a fantastic film. Not much else to report really, cooked a joint of gammon in the slow cooker for dh for packed lunches this week, it’s new thing we are trying. Years ago I used to make him one he used to forget it constantly so I gave up, lately though he has a lunch break and his partner eats in a cafe or wherever is nearby, this did make me twitch a little when he told me - a cooked lunch everyday 😱 so I’m making him lunches now to avoid the temptation. He’s been pretty good and been taking a thermal large cup of coffee everyday too plus it’s better for him to eat regular meals he used to skip lunch. So last night was obviously gammon chips and egg which went down well as dh loves food he can squirt a mix of disgusting sauces over 😆
I’ve started the Xmas hamper shopping recently, dhs parents have always done a hamper for all the brothers each year, usually a Xmas cake, pudding, dates, and nuts etc. so I’ve started doing that for the kids last year. I always get all of them an advent calendar as you can’t have too many, so it’s turned into a box of goodies with the calendar which they get in time for the 1st. They get it at the start of December and it’s more treats than traditional stuff as they are not keen on Xmas puddings etc. I think it’s nice to have the treats over December anyway, come Xmas there’s too much naughty food around anyway so I’ve tried to stop buying lots as stocking fillers and do it this way instead.
So far I’ve got Santa surprise flavour pr1ngles, Prosecco, wine, alcohol free stuff for ds2, Chucky themed f@nta (this was an exciting find as we love Chucky!) chocolate oranges (£1 in tesc0 now , £2 /£2.50 everywhere else 😳) Xmas salted trays of cracker type snacks like we had in the 70’s, twigl3t tubs, dds favourite fancy truffle pasta sauce from m@rks, chilli oil for ds2, tubs of qu@lity street which were on offer a couple of weeks ago for £3.75 , (they seem to have shot up since!).
I’ve still got to get a few more bits like the little mini Xmas themed shortbread biscuits in m@rks and perhaps some more savoury bits and crackers and perhaps nice jam 🤔 I love doing this and think it’s a nice tradition to carry on, I have however downgraded the advent calandras from the dearer ones - well the £7 odd ones to more around the £2-3 mark this year as there’s seven of them now, plus I buy myself one. Dh is a grinch and doesn’t want one so sometimes I get myself an extra one 🤣 this year I’ve managed to get three of the w@lllace and gr0mmit ones to go in the hampers which I’m tempted to also buy for myself 😬 anyway, it’s come from the £1 a day Xmas food budget which we may not be needing this year, not sure yet if we are entertaining over Xmas. Will need some of it to do a pre Xmas dinner earlier in the month for ds1 as they will be in Leeds for Xmas again.

Daft question of the day newgirly - have you had the secret santa flavour pr1ngles before? Are they just one flavour, or do they do different flavours/different flavours each year?
I know it's a daft question, but there are quite a few snack flavours LG doesn't like, so I don't want to purchase something that won't be eaten. But have seen these tubes, and thought about getting one.

GP I didn’t know so have just googled it,I assumed they would just be random different flavours but no, they are all the same mystery flavour that you need identify!Just been to the bootsale to meet old work colleague, nothing bought except £3 on two coffees, he bought a round too plus I took one with me, lots of
gossiping over coffee today 🤣 off for a forest walk now with dil and her sister and dog, it’s been ages since I went as dil has moved out, hopefully we will see some deer 😁MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -
Ah right - thanks for researching for me! 😁
Actually, I can 'kinda' return the favour. I've just been to the metropolitan town across the way, and whilst in their hBar-gains, I spotted that the soft (fizzy) drink fAn-ta has done some 'special edition' hook ups for halloween. There are 4 'characters' - and I happened to notice that Chu-cky was on the forest fruits flavour (I think it was - red in colour, anyway!). I know you've been talking about horror films lately, and that one got mentioned. But I also realise that you may have zero need for fizzy drinks - neither might your children! But just in case you were partying for the 31st and required something for the drivers or whatever, I just thought I would mention it.
**Edit** - sorry, should have mentioned, the 4 designs appeared to be on the 2L bottles. There were cans on the shelf, but they didn't appear to have the designs. I realise you really might not want to buy 2l of pop, but thought I would mention it anyway.
