PS hope you have some answers to the fraught family situation soonMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
Thanks everyone, no update so far.I think I will carry on selling what’s not tied down here and start visiting charity shops again, not sure that will be very helpful though as they seem to be really expensive here, sometimes I used to see things I own that i paid less for new, we do have one of the biggest boot sales in the country about a 20 min drive away though so perhaps that’s a possibility, they open about March/April to oct/ Nov.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3

Well I’m glad that week is over 😆 it seems dh’s brother was drunk, not sure much more than that though yet, dh seems reluctant to get too involved although he did offer to go over yesterday but they said no.No idea what will happen with his work this week, it seems to me like he’s more stressed when asked to work less than by work itself, I’ve asked him to cut down on the private work and it’s starting being now passed on to their business, where he’s the one that ends up doing it anyway ☹️ He’s really struggling to let it go, but he’s never at home so I think it’s a problem and this is what’s kicked all this off 🙄 He can’t really quit the day job and just do the private as he needs space and large equipment and it’s not financially viable to use our own factory (it rents for more than he would earn) or rent somewhere else with all the business related expenses as again profit would be minimal when having to rent an small industrial unit for one person. It will sort itself out one way or another I guess! Sometimes I can’t tell if he hates work or loves it too much 😆
Moving on, if all the vinted sales get ok’d the total made so far is £145.50 😬 it’s all getting withdrawn and saved in a separate pot as I’ve bought a couple of second hand bits on there and I didn’t want any of it whittling away. £1.97 paid out from tcb whch has gone (plus 3p) for yesterday and todays pound a day savings, now there’s £67 there, the idea was to use it after a year on dec1st to buy some nice new clothes after having a year off, I don’t think I’ll need to do that though so (dh’s job dependant) it might go on a weekend away if we don’t need it.I’m taking mum to the shopping centre today, I will buy a £10 M&S gift card for Feb towards Xmas and put it on the grocery cc, I’ve not started a savings card anywhere else and don’t have a Xmas food saving pot, if I used cash i would be saving £2 coins towards it but I never use cash anymore, it’s become easier to to track and budget really. Hopefully I can get some vouchers from surveys too.So far on the cc - since 1st feb is £224.36 / £550 😱 it does include a charge for mini hair straighteners I bought on Amazon for £13.03, the rest however is cat food, store cupboard bits and some food but not very much! I’m not sure I’ll do the store cupboard stock up next time to use the 10% off voucher , I feel broke now and I still feel like we haven’t got much in.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3 -

No sadly, what machinery that would is already in there , but he ends up working at the factory around work mostly.Well I’m doing something VERY reckless, I’ve just dyed my roots brown and am now attempting to “balayage” my hair with bleach- alone 😱 I’ve watched some you tube videos, so in half an hour I shall find out if I’ve ruined the now quite long natural hair I’ve been carefully growing out since lock down or made a fantastic money saving discovery, wish me luck! 😆MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3

Glad the family situation has calmed down - I am v impressed with your vinted sales - I am trying to start as I have so many clothes and shoes I never wear so thinking I need to get motivated to start via vinted - only ever bought not sold on itDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Give it a go, it’s so easy if there’s somewhere easy nearby to post from!Well, I should have stuck with a rest not a change when it came to bleaching my hair 🙄 it’s a little more golden than blond or as dh put it when I asked “it’s is up to you if you, if you prefer it orange instead of brown then keep it” 😂 so I’m meeting friends for coffee first thing, after which I shall be buying some brown dye, it’s not so bad I can’t be seen in public, but will no doubt give them a good laugh 😆 I blame the mortgage for this, or I would have gone to the hairdressers as spent loads getting it done properly.
Dh at work has been told to not do doing anything rash, the right hand man of the owner is coming down for a meeting and he’s been told one of the the other two managers is being sacked so they won’t be keen to lose him I think. Will see what comes of it best he seems happier, there have been mutterings from some staff that they need to take me back on again, not sure how I feel about that if they do ask. They wouldn’t be able to easily get anyone else to do my job as it took a couple of years to train alongside my predecessor, when in my redundancy meeting I asked who would take over my job and was told that any of the others can just do it 😡 they didn’t actually know what my job even was. So dh has been doing my job as well as his since Covid, as he’s they only other one who can. It’s probably unlikely though, but you never know, I could do with the money!Still waiting for the gas/ electric bill, can’t remember if I mentioned last weeks shenanigans? The online meter reading page wouldn’t accept my reading for electric as it was too high, two very long calls and lots of emails later, I have to pay it even though January’s reading is four times higher than usual. I’ve done the switch it all off thing and it’s not moving round, the first person I spoke to said readings are inline as they should be so it’s unexplained, second person said I must have been reading the meter wrong for ages! Either way it’s pay up, so I’m waiting in a big bill. I personally think last months was too low, but I’m sure the readings were accurate at the time, I’m pretty careful. Still as soon as ds2 moves out we will get a smart meter, I never know when he’s at home extra days working though so can’t schedule it now. Fingers crossed it’s not more than the £400 odd credit I have built up 😳MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2 -

😆 unfortunately that’s not true, I can always make time!Feeling yuk again today, ds2 wants me to take him to see 2001 A space Odyssey tonight, it’s a one off showing and I guess dil is busy, not sure yet as I’d love to go and have not seen it but am so tired today, will see later on.Hair is rescued now, it actually looks better than when I started as the ends are a bit lighter than the roots rather than the other way round. But I’ve spent a lot on it compared to what I had planned.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2

We did end up going to the cinema Tuesday night, it was very busy! Great film and sound track that I can’t believe I’ve never seen before.I’ve just checked the finances and as usual have overspent already 😆 mostly on hair dye and buying milk (including my lactose free round he corner which is twice the price) and bread everyday from the bakers, £2.25 for a sliced bloomer 😱 on a tight budget even the smallest things make a difference sometimes.I’ve spent a chunk of personal spending money on a couple of second hand items for my holiday too, a rather bonkers kimono with sequins and birds on it, bearing in mind my ds2 and dil only buy second hand retro stuff, we have a rule , it’s either “too jazzy” or “not too jazzy” and apparently this might fall on the too jazzy side 😂 that’s saying something as ds2 owns a pair of vans trainers made from the fur of sulley from monsters inc…..
Anyway the end result is personal spending down to £32.14 and it’s my turn to pay for breakfast today 🙄 and £261.21/£550 spent from the grocery & everything else budget. The personal spends gets topped up around the 20th, but the cc can’t be renewed spending wise until 1st March.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4
