I shall keep at it SC, what else can you do after so long hanging around here 😆
Lovely friend is coming over for lunch soon so I’ve been tidying up, she is excited to see the kitten but she should be afraid! He’s not just a normal kitten, he is bonkers and bouncing off the walls sometimes 😱 I splashed out £20 from NEXT months home decor budget when I saw the perfect round mirror for the hall yesterday, today it’s smashed as he managed to knock it over, I still don’t know how!Watched Martin on tv last night which was more like a horror film of costs about to rise 😱 not sure what will have to give in the budget to make up for the higher costs to come? I’m aware that we are now in a position that there are costs we can still trim down if we need to, we are clearly some of the lucky ones.☹️MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -

newgirly said:Party in 2026 for sure 😆 I’m not sure what we will do, a new car hopefully although I’m not sure the bmw will last until then ( in which case we won’t be free 2026!) especially when the London emission zone extends to our outer borough. But positive thinking hat on we will do sensible things like new windows as ours are double glazed UPVC maybe solar panels, travel and spoil the kids a bit more with things like meals out or takeaways which we never do really 😬
However I’m not trying to be negative but things never work out the way I plan, so I’m not convinced we will be mf in five years anyway, I will be working towards it but things usually crop up and put a spanner in the works so who knows 😂
You have progressed so far, you're not being negative. Life has thrown a lot at you and you will get there.4 -
Always love reading your diary ,you have such a great balance of saving and spending and enjoying your life with your family and thats the most important thing to me ,family ..My mortgage should be finished November 2026 too if all goes to plan3

That’s kind try-harder, what will you spend the extra money on when yours is gone?
Kp I have no plan really, the ops go into the offset rather than off the balance so I guess that’s also an emergency fund 😆 we would probably get an old banger until mf, or maybe a cheap lease deal.Oh dear I’ve spent a fair bit of the grocery/living budget this month and it’s only the 7th 😱 the broken mirror, a new cast iron casserole dish in Aldi this morning, lots of Amazon coffee pods and I don’t know what else, now I have just £292.97 left until March from £550 whoops!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -

I know indeed! Trying to pull things around by roasting some old potatoes this morning I was going to throw out- that should balance out the overspending 😂
More spending done first thing, I was going to order some sale yank@@ candles the other day but didn’t get round to it (Xmas ones for next Xmas for gifts) which were £10.99 each instead of about £23 , just looked on the daily deal site and they have a set of five for £45 including delivery in most of the same scents, so £9 each delivered so very pleased, it’s never to early to Xmas shop 😬MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3 -
We probably have similar ideas to you ,buying a new car and lots of holidays ,just relaxing and winding down from work ,possibly moving at that time too depending on what savings we have at that point i guess4

I am very impressed that you are already Xmas shopping.
Just feed the family potatoes and beans for the rest of the month. I'm sure everyone will be on board with that.MortgageStart Nov 2012 £310,000
