Hi fabbers,
We’ve had a busy week, with various tradesfolk in and out the house, preparing for the building works to start next week. Our builder has told us that once they’ve built the roof frame, they will take us up there so we can decide on the layout, as it’s quite difficult to get an idea of the space at the moment. They’ve also given us an idea as to when the messy work is likely to take place, so we can organise ourselves around that.4 -
All very exciting Chanie, do you & DH have thoughts about how you'd like to decorate your new space?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Great news Chanie, the months of disruption will be worth it, once you have your loft conversion and redecorate.4

@Floss I am excited, but home decor isn’t something that comes naturally to me. I’m very practical and it’s a home before it’s a showroom, so it’s never looked perfect. In terms of decor, we don’t have an endless budget or unlimited time to spend decorating, so we are going to need to prioritise and for us, that’s the childrens bedrooms.6

Hello Ladies,
Yesterday evening I went to Black Cultural Archives in Brixton for Poetic Unity's Open Mic evening. It was a really engaging, lively evening, as there were at least 14 poets performing. We had such an mix of poets, both young and old and of various nationalities. We could only perform one poem each and I chose to perform my poem: Hop To It Naw Man, which is a poem I wrote for my grandson. It had everyone laughing, which is the am of the poem.
I got a compliment from a random man on my way to the event, he said 'me like you outfit' I just smiled in his general direction and continued walking as I was running late.

@sugarbaby125 an evening of poetry and compliments, sounds like the perfect evening.5

Thinking of you today with the builders starting @chanie. I expect the messiest part will be when they remove the chimney breasts. Good luck.🤗
I'm sure you looked great @sugarbaby125 but it's always lovely to receive compliments so well done that man for speaking up. I've really enjoyed this nice weather. I've not done anything really special but it just lifts the spirits and I think we (literally) feel lighter and more carefree without heavy layers of clothes.
I'm still keeping up with the fabbing. It's about 2 months to my holiday so I'm already having to plan various appointments in advance so that I feel at my best like making sure my hair is just the length I like it.
I haven't gone for anything too summery yet though although I did go out with bare ankles one day last week.🤣

Almost moving day.:) I have been neglecting myself as I have been packing boxes constantly!
I am dyeing my hair at the moment and I am going to do my nails after with clear polish and use a body scrub in the shower.6 -
Hello Ladies,
Thank you Chanie and Maman. It was a really great evening. Yes it will always be lovely to receive a compliment about the way I look. Thanks to this thread, I will make an effort, even if it seems a bit over the top, because better to be overdressed than look older than my years through neglecting my own self care.
Wednesday, how exciting for you and your husband, that your house move is finally imminent.
I am going to cook a roast chicken dinner later with roast potatoes and other vegetables.5 -
@Wednesday2000 right now sounds like a perfect time to move - it’s bank holiday this weekend and you will be settled in time to enjoy the summer (before the tourists arrive).
You posted that you have been neglecting your self care recently. I think self care includes doing what you need to do to in order to ensure your move is successful and sometimes that means prioritising some things over others.5
