@sugarbaby125 have you thought about a setting for your story yet? Sometimes, it’s often the music, clothes and other contemporaneous references that make a play/film successful. Maybe you could incorporate your love of music into Darren and Shantel’s lives.
update on my building works - our builder thinks they will be in a position to take us up to the loft next week, so that we can decide on the layout of the space. We have an idea of what we would like to do, but want to see the space we have before making a final decision. I am beyond excited.5 -
Grrrrrr. 😡. Keep losing posts.SUgarbaby. Cracking start. I agree it needs expanding, more nuance. Race is indeed complex. It often encompasses class, money, and good old fashioned misogyny. But yes love at first sight is definitely a thing. It's visceral. Take a look at Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare handles it so well. The first meeting sizzles. It's romantic and sexy as hell.5

Sorry have to keep separating posts.Wow Chanie your building work is steaming ahead. So exciting.6 -
Hello Ladies,
I have had a very busy day today. I am now a Matinee Idol with The Old Vic which is a community programme. I was able to purchase a ticket with Matinee Idols to see the play The 47th today for only £5 and a £1.50 online booking fee. As the ticket for my particular seat would normally have cost me £108 (not that I would have been willing to pay that price) it is a great way for me to see great plays at The Old Vic at a very inexpensive price. I also got a free programme for The 47th which would have cost me £4.
I enjoyed the play, but it did not keep me fully engaged throughout every minute of the play. It is a well executed idea, but it is all about American politics, which interests me far less than home grown politics. This play is about what the American political landscape would look like in 2024 and Trump, his 2 sons and his daughter are central characters. As are Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. There are other political figures in the cast. Now that I have read the programme for this play at home, I understand a lot more about American politics, so it is a shame I did not get to read the programme before I watched the play.
Before going to the matinee of The 47th at 2.30pm there was an event from 12pm to 2.15pm for the Matinee Idols at the Waterloo Action Centre where we had a workshop with voice, accent and dialect coach Keith Higinbotham. It was such an interesting workshop and at the end of the workshop Keith taught all of us how to do Trump's accent. It was so much fun and for me the time flew past so quickly because I was enjoying myself so much.I also met like minded people and I talked to some of them when we having our refreshments. We were provided with 2 types of hot soup: wild mushroom and tomato and basil. Sliced wholemeal bread, 2 finger kitkats, orange clubs and various packets of crisps. There was tea and coffee, plus water, white and red wine to drink.
Ladies I only shared the outline of my 1st story with you, as that was the homework out tutor set us. I do not write stories in fits and starts, so even though I have all of the characters fully formed and the play complete in my head, there was no need for me to put all of this down on paper. Especially as this story is not the 1st complete idea I have for my 1st attempt at writing a play, so at this stage of learning the craft of playwriting, I do not want to gallop ahead of the programme or everyone else in the group. Yes, both of my ideas for a play will incorporate music. dialogue and possibly poetry. Nothing is yet set in stone, I have 3 months to decide on my 1st draft of my chosen play.
All forms of my creative writing have always come to me in this way, so once I am ready to get it down on paper, it simply flows and I have a complete piece of work. I have never experienced writer's block or got stuck or lost my way when I am writing short stories or poems, but I will have to see later in the year if I have a similar talent for writing a play.

Chanie, you obviously chose the right builders for your loft conversion. The work is going so well.5

Good morning, Fabbers.
I worked the election yesterday, so it’s was a very lloonnnggg day for me. I was in a polling station on the posher end of town, so a very different socio-economic group than my previous polling station. I saw lots of ladies in midi dresses with sandals and trainers and lots of athleisure wear, it was a great opportunity for people watching.

Well done Chanie, for once again working at a polling station for the local elections.
It looks like there was a record number of voters for the local elections and some real historic outcomes in London boroughs.6 -

That's interesting about what people are really wearing rather than what fashion editors tell us we should be wearing. I like that trainers with dresses look and my one mile clothes are effectively versions of what I'd wear to a gym like leggings and a hoodie.
Great news about progress on your loft extension. IIRC you're having a main bedroom and en suite up there. I had great fun planning our bathroom and, although it's coming up 3 years on, I still love it. The good thing about a bedroom is you can have very plain walls and paintwork but introduce colour with bedding choices. My bedroom is very pale and neutral but with several textures. It's a calming place to be.
I'm still keeping up with the fabbing. I can't remember if I posted about buying Philip Kingsley shampoo a few weeks back. It was expensive but I've been delighted with it. It's perfect for fine hair, seems to give it some body. I am very frugal with my products though and only use the minimum amount needed.
I have a podiatrist appointment on Monday. I've been having pedicures recently and my nails aren't looking good, very brittle. It could be just coincidence but I thought I'd have them cut properly and ask advice.
Weather is glorious. Have a good weekend all.
P.S. Lucky @Wednesday2000 being by the coast in this weather. If you're not too busy sunning yourself, let us know how you're getting on. 😊7 -
I didn't even vote as I haven't registered yet in this area. I completely forgot about it as I have been busy with house stuff.
It is actually a nice day today after being fairly chilly since I've been here. I think I need to get used to the sea breeze. I was thinking of going to the beach with a picnic tomorrow and bringing my dog with us as it would be the first time she has seen the sea. However we are getting our fence fixed and I have ordered some dining chairs so it might have to be pushed back until Sunday.
I really am loving it here. I feel so relaxed that I feel like I'm on holiday. I have been sleeping so much better as my cats are staying downstairs and I just shut my bedroom door and I'm out for 7/8 hours. It is bizarre as I have had such problems with insomnia for so much of my life. It is brilliant!
Not much fabbing going on at all. I did go and visit a few chazzers yesterday and I bought a red cardigan, a red handbag, a jewellery box and a picture with a sea motif for the house.

Hello lovely ladies.Bit chilly here today. Have thoroughly overdone it this week so having a rest today. Just been dozing on the sofa. Wont do me any harm 🤣. I'm sure I will still sleep tonight.I have been buying a few bits for my summer wardrobe. I'm trying to build a "friendly" wardrobe, not a capsule as such, but with items that go together on friendly terms and can be mixed and matched. Aiming for fewer clothes but more versatile items. So a more muted "neutral" pallet - a lot of creams, caramels and a few cheaper items such as tee shirts etc in black or navy, olive green, khaki.I've just finished watching Grace and Frankie. Love Jane Fondas wardrobe.
Struggling with my face getting a bit red at times. It comes and goes and just can't work out a reason. I did wonder if I had high blood pressure so bought myself a monitor. I think it's fine. Maybe I've developed an allergy to dermologica after all that. Hey ho. Just need to keep experimenting. Think I will go back to making my own facial oils, see if that helps.Bought a of load of plants today so hopefully a gardening weekend.8
