Hope everyone is enjoying the glorious weekend. It's really lovely here.
I just had to share this story.
Southampton family's home crafted from 13,623 Lego bricks | Daily Echo
Their house is almost identical to mine! It's even the same 'half' of the semi. The only difference is that we have a glazed front door and, in the conservation area, where I live we wouldn't be allowed a red front door and shutters. Ours are a pale green. We think it must be by the same architect and built in his familiar Garden City style.
Fabbing continues. I had my eyebrow wax and tint on Thursday. I have a '3 for 2' block of appointments at the moment but I plan to try threading when it runs out. I really need to make an appointment for either the podiatrist or a pedicure soon. My feet aren't too bad but when I see the sun like this it reminds me that toes will soon be on display.
I eventually got around to buying some Philip Kingsley shampoo. Someone on here recommended it. 🤔 It's expensive and I've only used it once but my hair is full and fluffy. It'll be interesting to see how it works out longer term.
I know it's hot but we're still having a roast dinner. It's lamb today which I really love. We won't eat until much later though.7 -
Happy Easter Sunday, fabbers.
@mamanhow lovely to see ‘your’ home in Lego. The next few months will be taken up with our building works, so that’s all I’ll probably be talking about in this thread for a while. We are getting our loft converted with a bedroom and bathroom and me and OH will move up there. DS will be moving into our room and his bedroom, which is a box room, will be my office. We are also getting the chimney breasts knocked out from 4 rooms (2 room upstairs and 2 downstairs). I know fireplaces are fashionable, but they take up too much valuable space in our house and it’s really difficult to fit our furniture in around them, so we are getting rid of them. We will need to be able to quickly clear rooms for the builders to work, so I’m trying to declutter as much as I can to make the job easier when the time comes.6 -
Hello Ladies,
This afternoon I went to my local Odeon with a silver cinema ticket to watch the film Belfast. The ticket only cost me £3.50. For me the film was a 9.5/10. Even though the subject matter was really serious, there was so much humour in the story. I found the film uplifting even though it was about the civil war in Northern Ireland, it had themes about family connection and strong family bonds.
This evening I had another masterclass with Neighbourhood Voices and it was so interesting. It was with Devon Johnson who had recently worked as a story liner for Emmerdale, then Holby City and finally Eastenders. It was so enlightening learning about what the role of a story liner involves. I had never known that continuing dramas needed story liners, not just story writers. I wrote just over 10 and a half pages of notes in the 2 hour masterclass. There was just so much to learn and I was trying my best to get it all written down. My right hand was aching, but it was so worth it. This is a career in writing that I had never heard of, so once again this programme has opened up new avenues that any of us writers on the programme may feel we have the writing skills to try our hand at.
It is a very intense role, so Devon Johnson resigned 3 months ago from his story liner role with Eastenders, as he wants to continue with his professional creative writing commissions and also get acting roles. He is also of British/Caribbean heritage like myself so I found him incredibly inspiring. The 2 hours just flew past so quickly.6 -
Hello Ladies,
I bought a few items of food yesterday using my Nectar card points in a local Sainsburys, saving me £10 and I spent a further £12.50 of Nectar points today in another local Sainsburys on a meal deal, some mini chocolate eggs and 5 packets of 4 muffins. Free food seems to taste even better.
I took all of the muffins into Blackfriars Settlement to celebrate my 60th birthday with everyone in a small way. The discussion group was lively and interesting today.
I made an effort to fab myself up, as the weather is warm enough not to need a jacket. I wore my long red linen mix skirt, a red sleeveless top with a black cardigan. I wore a pair of my black patent leather Van Dal sling back shoes. I got a compliment from one of the other women about my shoes and one of the men in the group paid me the loveliest compliment of being astonished that I was 60 years old and tole me I looked more like 35 years old! That was just what I needed to hear today, 2 lovely compliments.I had layered my red door perfume with some of the matching body products and I was wearing solid gold jewellery and my gold plated Tissot watch.

Today I have decided to focus on stuff that I can change - rather than dwelling on stuff that I cannot change.
To start I need to lose some weight - I was doing really well at the start of the year, but the last few weeks I have started to slip back into old habits. I'm not going on a diet, I'm going to focus on healthy eating.
The second thing is (and I'm ashamed to admit this) is my facial cleansing routine. It has really gone out of the window. Well, I am now focussing on that. I have lots of facial cleansers, muisturisers etc., so no reason not to. I started at lunchtime and gave myself a mini facial. My skin felt amazing afterwards, but was red. After 10 mins it had calmed down and I put some moisturiser on and it felt so good.Debt free and Keeping on Track6 -
Mrs. P well done on getting back to healthy eating and improving your facial cleansing routine.6
