  • Hope you're ok Penny and things have setttled down at home for you. Don't be hard on yourself, remember it takes two people to make an argument. It sounds like you need a relaxing weekend. Don't worry about the decluttering for a day or two and just enjoy making time for you both and clearing the air. x

  • Thanks for all your lovely messages, things are more settled and we seem to be talking more. This weekend was our weekend away but we have had to return home a day early (last night), weather was really stormy and the cottage we were staying in ended up with part of the roof damaged and the electricity went off in the whole area, which left us with no heating, the owner of the cottage was so lovely and has given us another weekend at no cost, so we will be going back.

So this week not a huge amount has happened, sent £5 overpayment to CC1 as i only put £20 on DS lunch account as he wasn't in on Friday, sent £40 overpayment to mortgage this was money left over from this weekend that we had put to one side for meals.I have sold an item this morning on ebay so that will be another £10 off cc when it lands in account.
Did a food shop this morning in lidl £58 which meant i had spent enough to get the £10 voucher which i will use this week for top up shopping.

Think thats it for me, oh i didn't hit my declutter target for this month but i gave it a good go.

Have not tried Lidl yet will have to give them ago. Do go to Aldi occasionally but can’t get everything I need there. Pity about your weekend but lovely that you have been given another weekend due to what happened. Glad things have now settled on the home front hope it continues.xx

Lidl have an app that you scan when you do a shop, spend £100 in a month get a £2 voucher and if you spend £200 you get a £10 voucher, also get various coupons every week for money off various products, its worth it if you do quite a bit of shopping there.

    Thanks dfod xx
  • Woohoo got to payday, it has felt like a long month. Money shuffle done and various bits paid.
Spent £4.95 in the PO on stamps and birthday card.
£15 birthday present for DH, just a token gift as he wants a new fishing rod but hasn't found one he wants yet.
£15 put on DS lunch account, he has 2 days when he isn't in 6th form for lunch, so have sent the £10 saved to CC1.
Made an overpayment of £100 to the mortgage and £100 has gone into savings.
Received a £10 payment from ebay which has also gone to CC1 as well as £100 overpayment, so £120 to CC1.

Brought home some over ripe bananas from work and have made a banana and walnut cake, nothing much else happening this evening.

  • Evening all, hope everyone is ok. Feeling a bit cr@ppy after hearing all the doom and gloom in the news regarding price hikes, looks like we will need to tighten our belts a bit more.

So frugal feb is here and trying to be really mindful of spends, also want to use bits up before buying more, seem to have loads of jars of condiments and jams open in the fridge which need using and lots of sample sizes of toiletries which also need using.

Spends today have been £20 on fuel for car, had budgeted £25 but havn't used as much this week so sent £5 to CC1, spent £15.34 in lidl but had a £10 voucher on the app so just cost me £5.34 and as i had this in change in my purse i havn't counted it in this months grocery budget. Also made another sale on ebay so thats another £10 that has been sent to CC1.

Work has been super busy this week and covid is still rife, just another week until we break up for a weeks holiday, just hope i can stay bug free.
  • Morning, it's raining and supposed to continue all weekend so apart from walking dogs i think its going to be a weekend of pottering.

Did the food shop on my way home from work last night and spent £42 in lidl, will need to pop in later in the week for more milk and the breaded chicken goujons that they didn't have. As its frugal feb i was mindful not to just add things as i went around, only thing not on the list to go in the trolley was a tandorri spice mix as it was cheaper than Mr T and i knew i didn't have any. Also swapped my usual museli for bran flakes which worked out £1 cheaper.

As it was just me and DH for tea last night we had a frugal tea of eggs on toast, so that will have cost pence as it was a whoopsed loaf of bread and the eggs from our chucks. DS had gone to watch football last, dreading him getting up later as Man U lost, he won't be happy.

Going to have a cooking day today, i have some leeks i got on offer last week, so i'm thinking leek and potato soup, leeks in cheese sauce to go with rst chicken tomorrow and i need to  make a cheese sauce anyway as we are having lasagne for tea tonight, make pizza dough for garlic bread, bolognaise sauce for lasagne, bananas to use up so banana and walnut cake and something chocolaty for DS/DD probably mars bar cake as there is a box of rice crispies open.

Need to also catch up with some surveys and try and get a couple of bits on ebay at some point.

    Have a great weekend.

A weekend of pottering sounds good. Best give DH a wide berth though if he’s moaning about the football today 😆
