We were on a good fixed deal 😞We can claim our 30 hours free childcare from summer term for our 3 year old, so hopefully can divert the money spent on her nursery (thank goodness for the 20% top up via Govt) can go towards covering the extra rising living costs.

Its a shame nothing extra has been done to help people who receive state pension only and those reliant on universal credit etc. A 3.1% rise really doesnt cut it.

I have to confess I am feeling myself become a tilly tidying addict! I just love seeing those nice round numbers at the end of my bank balance
£3.29 tidied for me today with total £16.40 towards CC1.
And thanks everyone you've reminded me to check when my current offer with energy supplier expires! Recently had to increase my direct debit up again despite trying to be more energy efficient round the house. Hope everyone is keeping warm!Debt free November 20223 -

@GingerWarriorReally spooky, was also with pure planet 🙂 my standing charge is going to be 3 times what it was with PP or there abouts come april so I’ve moved to a fix with another provider. To be honest, the fix isn’t too different to what the variable tariff will be come april 😬 Even spookier is my 30 hours came in last month. I used to work evenings because I couldn’t afford childcare, switched to working in the day somewhere else last month. It’s why I take my hat off to @jadewest94, I struggled doing unsociable hours so much and she does two jobs!Saving for Christmas 2023 #51🎄

Hi Peeps,
keep going we will get through this. @jadewest94 be patient, hopefully they will get their act together and get you sorted. Re the fuel issues I too feel we are being ground down with the standing charges. That should be the lower figure so people could afford to keep warm and then pay for what you use! Have you lovely people checked your boilers to see what the temperature is set at? It can afford to reduce the settings of the temperature of the water e.g if it is at 65 turn it down to 60 we won't really notice the difference and also there is less need for cold water to be added - a double whammy if you are on a water metre. Same applies for the central heating gas flow from the boiler take that down by 5 too.

I’d love to have a smart thermostat but our landlord’s (aging) electrician has scared him off with stories of house fires due to them
