It has to be said, having a positive LFT fir Covid this morning wasn’t really on my list of How Life Will Change Once Married!
Mr E is still negative but we are assuming he is already infected as this is a tiny flat…

@Laura_Elsewhere, sorry to hear about the positive test, take care. Everyone I know who has had it recently has said it was like a cold and while they didn't feel really ill they did feel really tired so rest as much as you need to. Meanwhile I have a stinker of a cold that is consistently giving negative tests but is making me feel very sorry for myself6
-
Get well soon @Laura_Elsewhere! I hope Mr E can steer sufficiently clear. DH didn't get it when I had it.
Yes, it's like a bad cold but affects people differently. Some people I know have had vomiting or headaches, aching limbs... I got swelling in my knees! The best advice I've had was to take naps, that really helped.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Sorry to hear you've had a positive LFT, I had it last month and the rest of the house all dodged it.
I felt like I had a heavy cold for nearly a week (with daily testing as I was convinced I had it) leading up to my positive test, then I was extremely tired for the week I was positive since then I have been quite fatigued, I had days where walking across the room seemed like a good idea until I did it. I decided to drink plenty of fluids and rest which I think has helped. The fatigue is slowly receding but it is still easy to overdo it.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Sorry to hear you have COVID @Laura_Elsewhere. Hope you feel better soon.
Ditto @Liverpool_Anne. I think a couple of weeks ago, on BBC Breakfast, they had someone talking about one of the side-effects of the last two years, which is that there are a considerable number of cold viruses to which we weren't exposed in that time so don't have immunity.

Take it easy and keep topped up with your vitamins. My dds have both had it, the elder one had bad headaches but the younger one sailed through with just cold like symptoms. Here's hoping you have the easy version.2025 Fashion on the ration

Thanks all (I hope Scruff the dog has managed to reach you all in the Village Hall with this note tied to his collar - it seemed better than my going along to hand it over)
My main symptom just now is huge indignation and outrage
We went for a meal last Saturday at a diner-style place in Brum, and of course had our masks off for about an hour. Mr E says he doesn't think that could be it as we weren't sitting very close to people, but I think it's a bit of a coincidence that the single solitary time in the whole two years that we have our masks off indoors, bang, I come down with it a few days later (mild symptoms Mon-Tues, more so Wed, bad enough to test on Thurs) - he slept last night very heavily for ten hours which he NEVER does so I think he may well be fighting a battle internally...
A friend pointed out that masks protect others from you, they don';t protect you, but tbh ours have reached the stage where we both think they do protect us significantly, very different from the utterly-pointless disposable-rectangle masks, very different from the standard fabric ones - they cover about half our faces, with a good inch or more under the jawline for a seal there and a nose-wire some 7-8" long along the top, made from heavy-duty copper wire, for an excellent seal there; tightly-woven cotton or silk for outside, linen for inside, and between is four layers of muslin with the weave at different angles. Maybe we've only been lucky, but we think the masks do make a difference.
And, as I say, it's a heck of a coincidence that our first mask-removal indoors just happens to be a few days before our first positive test... and although we've kept ourselves to ourselves a fair bit, Mr E had seven weeks going daily for hours each day to radiotherapy and avoided it... and we've been to quite a few gigs where almost nobody wore a mask except us, 3,000 people at the Usher Hall, 5,000 people at the Royal Albert, and some smaller ones around the country...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Totally agree with you. Surely if a mask stops particles going out from you, then it would be logical to think they would stop them the other way too!
Glad you're not poorly though.2025 Fashion on the ration

We don't wear masks when socialising at home with family. I am 99% sure I caught it from a close family member who is likely to have caught it at work.
We continue to wear masks when out and about in public and use hand sanitiser which I am convinced has helped to protect us.

I’m still regularly masking up in crowded spaces or when socialising with the more ‘free spirited’ non mask wearers and (touch wood) am still a ‘co-virgin’ (a phrase coined by one of the GPs I work with). My recent break in York was by train so I was masked for the journey there and back and again in crowded/poorly ventilated spaces. I think my 2020 Covid ‘war work’ along with my sister working in a hospital has left us both with an abiding awareness of how quickly and easily it spreads.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)
