I might claim I was bombed out so needed new clothes I suppose? Do you think I might get an emergency allocation? It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!5

What a shame though. Have you done an inventory of what's damaged, 4 skirts, 5 tops etc?Wealth is not measured by currency5 -
Re the cost of weddings - we were fairly broke when we got spliced, no financial aid from my parents as they couldn't afford it.
IIRC, it cost about £3k in the 90's - the wedding reception was in a hotel my MIL used a lot as WRVS co-ordinator and got us a special deal. Wedding cake was made by a friend who used to do it commercially, honeymoon was use of a holiday flat owned by my (soon-to-be) SIL and I made the wedding dress myself using a Simplicity Renaissance pattern - the total cost was about £50 I think including the pattern - the most expensive material was half a metre of remaindered gold-embroidered silk on offer at John Lewis at about £12. My aunt, a make-up artist, did my hair and make up and a friend did the bridesmaid outfits with material I gave her
No hen or stag party either, though we had a pre-wedding meal. Think the average cost at the time was £27k2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

Ooops, took my eye off the ball again, and 266 posts later... aaargh! I'll have a bit of a nosey through them when I have a moment but I'm just checking in; no spends to report! Been busy with trading and the rag-weaving, which I've taken 3D and woven a couple of "pots"! In other news, I probably have to replace my main sewing machine, which is going to cost me an arm & a leg, even for a second-hand one that will do the things I use the most. As I do sell some of the things I make, I'm telling myself it's a justified expense, but I think I'd be out of coupons for the next ten years!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6

MaryB, you have my sympathy - the blasted things ate my navy cashmere jumper and I was not amused.
However, I can't complain too much because for once I didn't do my anti-moth trick, which is to freeze the clean jumper (in its plastic storage bag, and sealed) for 24 hours before taking it out, defrosting it, and them put it away in the drawer for summer storage. A bit of a faff, but the cold kills the moth eggs off.Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.

No coupons but I did find some lovely summer harem type trousers in a laurel or 'Richmond green' with offwhite damask-esque pattern all over, £5 in Sue Ryder charity shop - bit steep for my usual budget but trousers of the right length are a hard find for meWealth is not measured by currency8
