I have tried five times now to write something suitable, but all I can think is "oh Ukraine, please be okay..." which is not really the greatest bit of oratory style of all time, but... 

Who knows what this might mean for everyone? And in the same way I suppose the Anschluss of Austria in 1938 must have had many people in Britain shrugging and saying, "got nothing to do with me, guv"...

I understand. When does a war ‘over there’ become a war ‘over here’? I have two friends, one who is in the Royal Navy and did a tour of service during the 2nd Gulf War and another in the Army who is in an infantry regiment which suffered huge losses in Afghanistan. I fear for them both if we are drawn into a war against Russia.
