Dropping in with a cuppa, had a treat of a homemade roast with friends over ours.
Had to sew a loose button on one of my favourite !!!!!! bow blouses.
Mended buttons on 2 stunning winter coats yesterday and put up for sale/swap on vinted (sadly covid means I no longer fit in them!)
Now sat with a full belly on sofa contemplating removing fancy pearl buttons off am old shirt I loved (because of the buttons) that don't fit and wondering about replacing them with boring buttons to sell or just cut up cotton for something else ... what I'm not sure ... I so lack inspiration!

Hi Pip,Sorry - I posted in a bit of a rush so I didn't make my post very clear. I bought 2 pairs of cord dungarees - 1 in blue and 1 in teal (but it is more green really - lovely colour so have kept although it isn't quite what I expected), they are lovely and cosy for wearing in the house in the winter. I also bought 2 in a lighter plain cottonfabric for wearing when it is warmer (similar to the yellow ones I bought last year) 1 blue and 1 in sunflower print. So definitely 2 coupons spent. It was only when I read my post back after your comment I realised it looked like I had only bought 2 pairs. Ooops!2024 Fashion on the Ration - 3.5/66.5 coupons remaining1 cardigan - 5 coupons13 prs ankle socks - 13 coupons5 prs leggings - 10 coupons4 prs dungarees - 24 coupons1 cord jacket - 11 couponstotal 63 coupons8

CAFC - Completely with you on the the fit has got to be right and no making do.I know from past experience that when things are right they get worn a lot more so in the long term it is worth spending the money to get the right item. I hope your perfect items appear for you.

thriftwizard - the 'new' knickers look fine to me, and I may even have a go if I have a pair that get unmendable.
I have finished all the mending I had hanging around and now I will have a go at finishing a knitted sleeveless jumper I started a couple of years ago, before the problems I have with my wrists - I will take it slowly though after taking painkillers. I'm another one who hasn't heard of cubic knitting needles.

11 coupons for the 1 Wool& dress I’m keeping. Sadly, it’s the XXL that fits, not the XL. I’ll need to work on that.2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. Nightdress - 6 = 60 remaining.6

Are you planning to do the “wear it every day” challenge, @TwibbleDee? The dresses look lovely, I’m still trying to stick to the second-hand only plan, but if I do buy anything new I will definitely be looking for quality that will last, like these.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.4

As a new member of the 'positive self talk' brigade, and a long time hater of how women are made to feel in society, I'd suggest a little reframe of thinking:
So rather than the size being the thing you look at, and end up seeing as a negative on your fabulous new dress, think to yourself 'Its the blue one that fits'Wealth is not measured by currency8 -

@TwibbleDee - "Oh wow, the blue one looks fantastic!" is what you meant to type, isn't it?2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
January (29): winter boots, green trainers, canvas swimming-shoes (15); t-shirt x2 (8); 3m cotton twill (6);
.
2025 second-hand acquisitions (no coupons): None thus far
.
2025 needlework- *Reverse-couponing*:11 coupons :
January: teddybear-lined velvet jacket (11) & hat (0); velvet sleep-mask (0);6 -
Lol, the green one looks fabulous, the blue one would require too many under things (really, I could make it work, but it would require more than I want to wear underneath during the summer).I haven’t decided if I’m going to go for their 100-day challenge yet. It will definitely need to be after it warms up a bit. Maybe starting around Easter or so, when the temperature is more consistently warm.
ETA: If it makes y’all feel better, I did decide that I’m going to working on making vegetables a more normal part of my diet this year and getting more active instead of losing weight or some such nonsense.2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. Nightdress - 6 = 60 remaining.8 -

Nanny, I still have a pile if you want anymore things to mend??!!!
Well just finished my pinafore. Still yet might add buttons! So thats 1/4 that's been sitting since last year completed! Yay!
Now to get some thick tights for underneath? Can you still get thick wool ones or is it all plastic nylon now? Best place to get comfy tights?7
