Talking of crochet hot water bottle covers, I just saw this free patttern on Black Sheep Wools.

If you don’t have chunky yarn, if this was knitting, I’d say to double up on DK.  Never tried it with crochet, though.

  • Lots of inspiration for HWB covers here, thanks, ladies! I can feel a post-festive crochet-fest coming on... IF DD2 has left me any yarn! She's knitted socks for everyone for Christmas, which has involved unpicking lots of (recycled) jumpers and wandering off with nearly every ball of yarn in the house, then spinning them together to get the exact degree of chunkiness she requires! Awesome stuff...

What's that? Rations? Oh... er... I, um, found some raisins. On a bench in the park, just sitting there unwanted. And sultanas. Those were in the road - fell off the back of a lorry, I expect. And sugar. Which was... ummm.... oh yes, I remember, a man in the pub was giving it away because he didn't want it, that;'s right, yes. And glace cherries. I got those from, er, people who don't like them so they gave all theirs to me, yes.,
    Ahem.
People are so careless, aren't they?! Cake looks fab. :)

How fortuitous @Laura_Elsewhere that you walked in the lane and by the bench when you did. Looks like a super cake. I can't wait to have a slither once you have iced it. Thank you,
