    That looks lovely @Gem-gem

I have a confession to make:  although I have crocheted since before I can remember - seriously, I don't remember being taught to crochet by my mum - I have never made a granny square and don't know how.  What is the "secret sauce", please?

I found various designs of crochet HWB patterns online (free).
T@ft have both a crochet and knitted pattern in their current (winter) book of patterns.

MrsCD your ice picture is beautiful. I have never seen anything like it before. How long does it stay frozen for?

My go to place for crochet instructions is Attic24. Lucy has lots of photos to show exactly where to put the hook for each stitch.

I do admire you HWBs, @Liverpool_Anne and @Gem-gem! The button closure is very neat and trim and, if I may say so of a HWB cover, elegant! And Gem-Gem, as a crocheter, but not very good at granny squares, I do appreciate the instructions. :) Grey and white is a favourite combination of mine.
