Could I pick your brains, please? When you made your rain skirt, did you do a full circle, or half, or something else? I made one last year by just winging it and it worked ok, but I want it a bit longer and more fullness so there's more room to move.
I did a wrap-around, below knee-length. I did a rectangle about 2.5 times my waist and pleated it onto a waistband, and then added ties, one longer to go round my back to the front and the other shorter just to go across my front to meet the longer and tie in a bow. The skirt part overlaps at the front, each edge going right across if that makes sense.
I always used to use large bulldog-clips to keep my skirts out of the chain when cycling so I reckoned I could do the same with this although actually I've barely cycled in a fair few years - but it certainly has plenty of room to move and to access pockets and so on, and doesn't flap about and fly open even in blustery weather, ime.
Thanks, Laura. The one I made last year was gathered with elastic through the waistband but never gathered up where I was comfortable, so I've looked at pleated skirts, then thought that I should ask you, as the one person I know who actually has one! I've also toyed with the idea of a wrap over circular skirt, but pleated would be easier.
    Thanks for your help.

    That's a lovely pattern, @PipneyJane
I think the armholes would be too low for me but the pattern could easily be changed I would think.

Oh definitely, @MrsCD.  It would be quite easy to change the armhole depth, just by shortening the section above where you start the armholes.

You may want to lengthen the body section to keep the same proportions but that's also easy.  Once you've decided on the height/length of the armhole, then add the difference back to the body and knit that before you start the armhole shaping.  For example, if the pattern originally called for 11 inches of knitting after you started the armhole, but you decided that 8 was a better fit, then you could increase the length of the body by another 3 inches to get a garment with the same overall length.
