Hi all,
@TwibbleDee my Mum would have been ecstatic I was wearing a dress and if I had 3 she probably would have fainted with shockI also learned a long time ago to ignore not just her comments but just about everyone's.
If you like it and feel comfortable wearing it then that is all that matters
@maddiemay you have done well to be able to put a wedding outfit together from stock, I think wedding outfits are coupon eaters unless you are a whizz on the sewing machine like Laura. I am living in fear of the next family wedding which I suspect could be the end of this year. I have seen absolutely nothing I would wear that would be suitable in the shops
My plan to wear out some of my clothes is finally working, a pair of socks and 3 pairs of knickers have been consigned to the rag bag. I still have loads wear out though so no need to buy anymore just yet
Take care everyone

I really must update my signature - I've got a paper list, but need to type it up!
I've just ordered the herringbone-wool skirt material, so that will be 3x3 coupons as it's wool. As it's 60" wide I'm rather lucky we have no penalty for width, since the original was specified as 36" wide!
I've nearly finished the second sleeve of my Cardigreen, and then it's the looong slog of a mile of waist-ribbing before I finally cut it up the front and crochet the button-bands and collar on.2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Good morning Ladies
Congratulations on your efforts to decorate the village hall for the Platinum Jubilee. Looks lovely! I’ve left some homemade sausage rolls in the kitchen for the party later.
I have a spend to declare. You may have seen advertisements on FB for the Ukraine Forever tartan devised by Great Scot. It’s beautiful. I’ve pre-ordered a regular scarf and a large one for me - I couldn’t decide between the two - and a scarf for my MIL. Also, I had a browse of their website and they sell their own, pure wool tweed at £5/metre!
Hope you are all having a lovely long bank holiday weekend.

We're in sunny SE Scotland visiting my family - we visited Mr E's family down on the south coast of England last weekend and now my lot - single-night visits, both, so a lot of driving, but everyone's delighted to see us!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

@Laura_Elsewhere and @Wraithlady, yes that would make far more sense. £75 a metre makes much more sense. How did you find the price?

Clicked on a tartan at random, then changed it to 'per metre'.
Too many experiences of 'ooh, pretty fabric - at a reasonable price' then finding out it was per 1/2 metre (once, per quarter-metre)2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

Has anyone seen that tin with the scones in? I had half a tub of double-cream to use up, asked friends for suggestions bearing in mind I loathe almost everything made with cream, ie cream itself, cream sauces, soufflés, creamy desserts, etc., and someone brightly chirped "butter!" - I can't think why I didn't think of it before, as I've made butter over the years from full-fat milk...
Anyway, I brought it along for you to taste because.... it appears to be slightly cheaper than buying butter. Astounding, isn't it? Mr Sainsbury (as Gran always called 'him') sells cream at c.£3.50/litre and butter at c.£7.50/kg... cream yields roughly half the amount in butter as you start with in cream, so you'd want two kilos of cream (£7) to make one kilo fo butter (£7.50)... and you get the buttermilk to drink or use in baking, etc...
I'm absolutely astonished that it seems cheaper - butter has gone up and up and up in price of late, and the Sainsbury's is the cheapest British butter we could find, so I'm now wondering if maybe I should make some each week?! Even if I only make what I use in baking it would be worth doing...
I used a wide-mouthed glass bottle with a screw-lid (600ml passata, M&S on an offer), tipped the cream in and left it for a few hours at room temp. I had to use quite a bit of energy for the first couple of dozen tippings as the cream just lined the bottle and then suddenly sploosh slosh sploosh and in well under 5 minutes of tipping the bottle upside down and right way up again (holding the lid well, just in case...!), I had butter. A small colander lined with muslin over a jug and the buttermilk drained out, then I put an elastic band round the muslin's corner to keep the butter in and squished it in a bowl of water several times til the water stayed clear; put the whole muslin-wrapped thing in the fridge for half an hour on a plate and then tipped it out onto the plate, scraped the muslin (which came perfectl;y clean out of the ordinary washing-up!), added a tiny sprinkle of sea-salt and squished it about a bit with a knife, dolloped it onto a doubled sheet of baking paper and rolled it into a cylinder and it's in the fridge. Should last 5-7 days and can be frozen

Always wanted to try making butter, but according to t'internet, you need cream and they have stopped selling/producing goats cream so I can't.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used
