@Cherryfudge not got a particular style in mind yet, I have a few simple dresses that I could bravely use as a template. Just need some proper material scissors might have to ask elderly parents of what they have in their old store that could be handed down. I do have a shy sewing machine that hides in the wardrobe, so this could take some time.

I was talking to a friend who does the most wonderful crochet and she reckoned she tends to start off tighter then as she gets into the pattern it gets looser - I can see the same with mine.

My dream sewing scenario is to be able to copy things. My sewing machine is so shy it's applied to enter a hermitage, but it needs to come out from under the yarn stash first!

I inherited loads of scissors when clearing my parents' house. One of those things when one wonders how many they actually needed! The kitchen ones are superb but the sewing ones had deteriorated and I suppose I ought to throw some in the metal recycling because they are beyond my sharpening skills and I have others that work well.

I’ve not yet had a proper look through this iwebsite but looks like we’re not the only ones living in a virtual 1940s world.

Ooohhh.... I could get lost there.  Thanks for the link @fl@florianatwobob

Do you remember how we were discussing the top that looked like it could have been crocheted but was actually knitted, probably on a machine?  Well, I think I've found a very close version of the pattern and it's free.

Ooooh, what pattern are you using @CAFGGirl?
I've made a few cardis over the years, but I prefer my knitted ones. Let us know if yours is nice to wear.
    Its this one
Beginner Crochet Cardigan Crochet pattern by Little Golden Nook (lovecrafts.com)
    A free pattern.
I was starting to think I should have gone a size up, and then remembered that tension is a thing in crochet (with loom knitting which I'm used to its not an issue0 so I think I've been hooking tight and should have used a hook size up... then because i think I was aware of it, I've noticed my tension is loosening (maybe a semi consciously subconsciously thing).... so the body is smaller than I'd ideally like, but I'm going to persevere with it, just for the pattern experience.... I'm not 100% on the colour now I've seen it worked up so it might end up as the house cardigan.
    That's an unusual pattern, @CAFCGirl
I haven't tried a top down cardi, so I'll be very interested to see how you find it.

Hi all, the only time I have lived in a really hot place was when I was in Kuwait and it did get very hot , thank goodness we had air con there, we also had a lot of sand storms that often made driving difficult, it was tricky at the best of times as the average driver seemed to think everyone else should just get out of their way,

Ah, the old 'Insh'allah' approach to driving! My folks lived in Dubai for a while

@Wraithlady, Insh'allah indeed  I once refused to let an air con repair man leave until his mate came back with the right part as he had said he would be back later Insh'Allah  it was their 3rd visit
