need to be super frugal this month without feeling so deprived that my-woe-is-me behaviour kicks in, leading to a splurge or low mood.
This 🤯3 -
A mixed bag so far today
I walked up and down a hill, instead of taking the bus going up.
Took uncomfortable shoes to the cs.
I called the storage people. I got a free week, same again next month, so a win, but still peed off about the extortionate charges. Hoping to be free of them soon...
I finally cancelled my swimming membership after weeks of procrastinating. I have to pay the monthly fee again as the notice period was missed by a few days. As @mark55man calls it 'stupid tax' Ah well. Going to swim as much as I can so as not to waste it. September is my last monthly payment. Annoyed as it comes out of my already small budget this month.
I'm owed a tenner for a face cream purchased that was off. I chased it up. I thought they would give me a refund but instead they are sending me a replacement. They were so nice I accepted although the tenner would be more welcome TBH
I contacted the surveyors expecting to use my CC but they are not set up to take payments over the phone. This one needs rethinking as I remain short of funds for this and it is next week!
I spent on coffee, some YS food that will cover a few days, an item my host requested, coffee, chocolate, bread. £16 spend!! My remaining money is now £203 so tomorrow and Thursday must be NSDs. Thinking... swimming, library, then staying in!
I am booking a train (I have a credit on my cc) as fares keep going up, but if no-one else is taking that train I need to keep the taxi fare to cover me to get to the station. The place I am going is rural and that is great. The drawback is the taxi fare. Hoping luck will be on my side and I will find someone to share with but it can't be guaranteed. I need to take £30 out of my £203 to cover that. So, down to a hundred and flipping seventy.
It is temporary so ok (ish) but thinking about money is taking up a lot of headspace.
Going to list gratitudes so I can keep perspectives (as @in_need_of_direction does...)
I have found a home I love
YS meals for the next few days
Good walking shoes

Yesterday I sorted the last remaining train ticket. A relief.
I spent most of yesterday racking my brains working out how to pay for the survey after discovering I cannot by by cc as they are not set up to do so. This morning I transferred the money from savings to pay for the survey. So, my savings target is no longer metI have updated my spreadsheet
Today's frogs- set up a SO for CU & send requested info
- pay £50 owed to organisation by cc
- pay for survey
- email surveyor
I've already made stock. Yesterday I bought a smoked bacon joint for £1.20 and some broccoli for 50p so I'll do something with those, probably add steamed carrots and potatoes and mustard.
I feel disappointed about the savings but the survey needs paying g somehow.
Wishing everyone a good day or as @MuffinTops used to say, happy hump day

Sorry to hear about the savings, but better to pay the survey and get it done rather than struggle to find somewhere else."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3

Sorry to hear about the savings, the good news is that through your planning and hard work you had savings and the survey can go ahead 😊3

Sorry to hear about the savings and surveyor not accepting CC.
As you've an abundance of rice make a couple of risottos, we've done it with all types of rice. If you've got pasta, go traditional Italian style with a small amount of sauce for flavour.
You'll get through this month and be stronger for it.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3
