Great news you've agreed a price. Most older properties have asbestos in some shape or form, it wouldn't put me off; I've got it in my home.

Thanks. In itself I agree. I guess it is the shape and form I am thinking about. I'll know more soon.

It was banned in the 80s or 90s I think, so modern artex doesn't but older may do.  It's not the most dangerous type but better to deal with it properly.

Best of luck with it. That would throw me too. But if they resolve it that's great news

If it's the old artex (which I'd assume) then they'll probably be advised to cover and skim it rather than disturb it so if it's a ceiling of a room you're knocking through then best make them aware that's your plans, it might mean you can take the cost of the new ceiling off your purchase price and have it all sorted when the walls are knocked down.

Our current house had an asbestos (concrete board) garage roof.  We had it removed by a local roofer who was happy to deal with it (wearing over suits and masks) and then an asbestos removal company came and bagged it all up and took it away.

Very simple job and very common place in older properties. It wouldn't phase me at all in a house purchase now.

Asbestos is only a problem once you've disturbed it, hence they try and cover it now.

    Thanks @Jellytotts
I'm a bit concerned that even if the ceiling is covered and skimmed a wall coming down might disturb the asbestos ceiling? They have already agreed to do the work. I'm not paying for it. I'm now concerned there may be asbestos elsewhere...

I'm still waiting to hear from the EA so I know more about the asbestos.
I'm not feeling stressed about it, not sure why that is...
I am keeping my options open just in case...

I went to inquire about a finance option (in spirit of keeping my options open) in branch but they are closed today, so will pop in tomorrow

I have a financial frog to eat related to house purchase that I need to be clearer on. Will eat that first thing tomorrow (I swallow frogs better first thing in the morning  ;))

I caught myself frittering. I have a coffee or tea out about 3Xs a week, at least once I have a sweet treat with my coffee. I walk there but take a bus back. I've costed it at £22 a week. So over £80 a month!! The coffee isn't even good, so stopping that. Will sit out in a little garden nearby with my own coffee and some nice chocolate in future. I will also walk there and back, which I did today. The walking not the coffee or cake  :)

I'm making a cauliflower recipe today. I bought all the ingredients

I bought some decent decaf as I'm trying to keep it low.

I am at day 3 of being AF Giving my body a break :)

I hope everyone's week got off to a good start. If not, there is plenty of time to turn it around  :)

good luck with your frogs DIA - well spotted on when a treat (now and again) was becoming a routine fritter - treats are nicer when they are, well, a treat.

the amount you are going through you need to give yourself a highlight now and again!!

maybe you could pay for it by juggling some savings around to take advantage of the interest rates now around 4% for instant access

    Thank you

I agree I am going through a lot! But the poor coffees are hardly an enjoyable treat. The last time I went to house hunt I gave myself a night in a lovely, quirky hotel I love. Beautiful breakfast. Complimentary tea and hm cake in the garden on arrival. That is what I call a treat and not much more than a month of poor coffees :)

Interest rates are good but I could be doing better if I rate chased a bit more and split things up. Thanks for raising it
