I didn't get round to prepping the listings, so that is a job for tomorrow. It will be easier once the tree is down and the chair we use for taking photos is back in its usual place.
I had my phone call from the diabetes nurse and it was really good and reassuring. I'm at the very bottom end of the scale and so it will hopefully be fairly easy to reverse. I'll have another blood test in 6 months and then annually after that.
It was very low pressure and focussed on making small sustainable changes and doing gentle exercise. I was specifically told not to go on a strict diet and try to lose lots of weight quickly, nor to suddenly start exercising loads as it might have the opposite effect if the body is under stress. Make small changes, starting with having a higher protein breakfast, and 20-30 mins gentle exercise. If I eat something higher in sugar (even fruit), balance it with some protein at the same time to help manage the blood sugar spike.
Nice and simple, so I shall make the effort! If I go back to following SW principles then it should make it much easier, and hopefully stop me defaulting to toast and jam for breakfast!"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney6 -

Jwil, sounds like the nurse knows what she’s talking about. 👍🏻I had gestational diabetes with my DD (second baby) and the nutritional advice was shockingly bad! They were advising so many carbs which literally turn into sugar. 😱I found a group that gave much better advice and it was pretty much high (good) fats/protein & low carb. When eating any carbs, pair it with protein/good fat to help slow the release of the sugar into the bloodstream.
I found the diet really hard but that’s because I had to go full high protein/low carb straight away due to it being gestational diabetes.Doing it more gradually as you’ve been advised would be easier.I was convinced it was a mistake when I was diagnosed as I didn’t have any risk factors - I was only referred for the glucose tolerance test due to having a much bigger baby than expected in my first pregnancy (9lb 13oz).
I think I was in shock! Now I know I need to be careful as apparently 50% of women with GD are then diagnosed with type 2 diabetes within 5 years of the birth.

Happy New Year's Eve everyone, and also Happy Payday! Hurrah!
I've had a busy morning so far, doing all my finances, paying all the bills, and totalising some of the ebay stuff.
I've also taken the trees and decorations down, all that's left is the lights which we will leave up for a few days yet. I've tidied and hoovered downstairs and the kids have written their thank you cards. I've taken meter readings as well.
I had a lovely surprise this morning, I got on the scales and found that I am almost a stone lighter than I was last year. Most of that has come off in the last couple of weeks, as my weight has been relatively stable this year with some slight fluctuations both ways. I got on the scales 3 times to check it wasn't a false readingHopefully I can build on that!
I went back to my old diary to see what my aims were for the year, despite them being vague I've pretty much managed most of them - more of the same this year hopefully!
1. To end the year with some decent savings - I dipped into my emergency fund and cash buffer, but have grown my LISA and PBs, so not too bad.
2. To end the year weighing less than now - 13lb less
3. To end the year fitter than now - possibly, slightly. Needs more work
4. To end the year with a much emptier house - more progress made
5. To make a start on some of the work needing done to the house this year. - One window done, trouble finding tradespeople scuppered more.

Happy New Year everyone! Hope it's full of goodness for you all.
I'm pathetic and shall be in bed long before midnight, but hope everyone has a lovely evening. I usually wake at midnight and hear the fireworks.
Thank you to everyone who has posted, thanked, lurked, and cheered me on this year. It's very much appreciated
