Well today has been a day of joy! 🙄
It was always going to be hectic at work, and I wanted to finish early to visit family for a birthday.
I went to the GP earlier to get my blood test done. Two nurses, several attempts and no blood. They've told me to go to the hospital to get it done. Who knows when I'll manage that!
While I was out we got a call from school to get little miss. DH went and got her, she was complaining about tummy ache, She wasn't herself. I thought she'd had a panic attack as she was quite distressed and saying she didn't want to do her school work, and she was having bad feelings. I then saw an email from school saying there is Covid in her class so thought I'd test her - she has tested positive. She was sick earlier but has bounced back now and seems fine.
There is no way we can social distance with a 6 year old, particularly when she's anxious and needs reassurance, so I'm resigned to the fact that we will probably get it and hope the vaccine does the job. I've got windows open and doing the hygiene stuff. We've all tested negative so far, and I'm trying to keep little jwil away as best we can.
So we didn't get to go and see our relative today after all, but that will wait for a bit now. She was most upset about that!
Happy Days! Hope everyone is well.

Hi jwil - sorry to hear your news about little jwil. I agree social distancing is pretty much impossible when you are trying to comfort a 6 year old. An n95/FFP2 type mask for you might reduce your risk. I can't imagine it's practical to ask her to wear one. Hope that she recovers quickly - and that as you say - the boosters do their job.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Oh no. Its extremely hard to distance and in some ways feels unfair to try to do so with small children doesn't it. Keep to what you are doing and hopefully it will miss the rest of you. Hope little miss feels better soon.
If its any hope I've still not managed to catch it from any of my kids so the vaccine must do something! Our latest household case appears v transmissible so I may yet succumb. Only 11 out of 30 children from her class are still in school...

Little miss has been absolutely fine today. If it wasn't for the email from school, I wouldn't even have tested her. I would have assumed it was a stomach bug. Her symptoms were tummy ache, one vomit, and a bit of shivering. She was white as a sheet and wiped out. No temp, not even the hint of cold symptoms or sniffles. No wonder it spreads so much!
I've continued with the ventilation and cleaning, but I've pretty much resigned myself that I will have caught it yesterday if anything. She was hyperventilating right in my face before I realised it might be that. We've naturally distanced today as she's been doing her thing while I've been working.
DH, little jwil and I were all negative this morning.
Cashed out £5 from PA, so will send that to the mortgage tomorrow.
I'm glad it's the weekend, and even more glad I can't go anywhere"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney6 -
Well done on the £5. It all helps.
