It's great to see what people have been making. So far I've managed 30 small felt ornaments, but it's a decent start.GC Feb 25 - £225.54/£250 Mar £218.63/£2405

It’s only a small make but I used up the end of my melt and pour soap and made two lavender soap bars. I’ll be saving them for birthday presents throughout the year. 2/50 has motivated me to keep going working through the stash! The lavender slipped so there’s more than I would normally put in, and it’s all in one layer on the top. Not my best make by a long way, but they smell lovely from the essential oil and they’ll do. Better something made imperfectly than nothing at all!“Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming” 🐠https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6098084/discount-duck-s-quest-for-mortgage-freedom#latest8

I'm just catching up after a busy few days. I posted too soon about my good start to the cardigan: the lacy pattern didn't suit the wool and it certainly wasn't working well with my concentration levels, so after more false starts than I'd care to admit, and sulking at it for a while, I did the grown-up thing, ripped it all back and started again with a much friendlier (free) shrug pattern which is looking really promising and which I can cope with on public transport before and after work. The cardigan pattern is being put aside for a wool which really does work for it (I've swatched) and when I have more attention to spare. I've also hemmed a dress that I started in December, and which I will count, but only once I've made a self-covered belt for it. Meanwhile, I have a new project added to the list since a hot water bottle developed a crack: a microwaveable head bag from remnants and something in the kitchen (rice? pearl barley?). I haven't yet googled how to do that.2022 stashbusting:

@JAMIEDODGER, I like the linen pouch. Little bags are on my to-do list for remnants. I made a couple of simple shoulder/cross-body bags in 2020 from the free Ida pattern and they were very satisfying, so I went and bought purse clasps last year which are now waiting to be used, along with some metal zips I already had. They will go nicely with all the dresses I haven't made yet...
@Wraithlady, a red tablecloth sounds very cheerful. Was the regency dress fun to make? Which pattern did you use? I don't really have a use for period outfits in my own wardrobe, but am fascinated by different construction techniques (or indeed, anything that isn't the typical "inset sleeves and zip fastening").2022 stashbusting:

@SnowflakeBunny rice should work! I'm planning on making some hand warmers and an eye mask at some point with some remnants. I've got some leftover brown rice that didn't all get eaten on a health kick (I'd really rather just eat basmati), so I've been saving it for that.
I haven't started anything, but I have planned lots 😂 on the theme of remnants, I saw some beautiful stitched landscapes made with scraps of wool fabrics. Really want to give that a go with scraps! I've already got one day in lieu to use, so hopefully a quiet day crafting at some point soon.
That said, I'm reading The Subversive Stitch at the moment, and the introduction is pretty adamant about "crafting" being art, and not calling our works art demeans it. So, I'll have a nice day being artistic, at some point soon 😀

In the end I fell back on my dressmaking experience and pretty much ignored the instructions - the dress was really nice to wear, though!2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

oh, AnimalTribe, I can just picture your dog running off with the nearly lamb! My cat comes in, decides there is nowhere for her to sit, then leaves, meowing in complaint!
I have MOST of my stuff in my craft room, but I have boxes and boxes of fabric (left overs from different projects, under our bed , which is why I've been able to make 400+ double layer face masks so far without buying any fabric!) and one chest of drawers in the spare room is full of wool!
Anyway, I've made 6 masks and started on the second sock at last. My 3 year old granddaughter asked me today if I'd finished my socks yet, so that confirms I need to crack on with it.. (And the room is tidy again.)
Good luck, everyone.Sewing 88/COLOR]Woollies 19Card s 91Reading 37/406 -
