Good morning all
Yet another one who can’t be doing with the whole new year thing. Like YL, I’m wondering just what this year will throw at us, how much more we will cope with, and how together we can be stronger. This new year and future ones will be more poignant than ever - my best friend’s daughter died in an accident yesterday afternoon. Sorry for the downward start.
Today’s job - dismantle the Christmas decorations. DH has taken down the lights already. We are on a mission to banish the festivities from the house.
No washing, and no ironing pile here either. Thank you, Natty, for the push to clear it.
I wish you all a happy new year, and thank the Flyladies every day for being such a part of my life. I would be lost without you all. Remembering flyladies past who can’t be here xx10 -

(((Hugs))) to all for whom this is a difficult day xxx
I'm not superstitious, but I shan't be doing any washing until Monday because I did it all on Thursday. I don't make resolutions that I know I'm likely to break (knowingly or unknowingly) within a couple of weeks. But I do love my Christmas lights (they help my SAD enormously) so they are staying up for now! DH actually asked if we could keep the outside lights up until his birthday at the end of this month, and why not? I'm a traditionalist where the tree and cards are concerned, so they'll stay up until Twelfth Night, and the dusting can wait! We're not expecting any more visitors, anyway.
We are still eating up Christmas food. Meals are, shall we say, interesting!
Whilst "watching" television, I have spent the last couple of evenings knitting a premature baby jacket - not because I know anyone who needs one, but just to use up an odd ball of baby wool from my stash. I'm sure it would only have taken pigpen one evening to finish it, but I've still got all the stitches to pick up for the neck and front band. Well done Fayolle on finishing your SiL's present in time
I have some prep to do for church, so had better turn my attention to that before I get lunch.
See you tomorrow xxx9 -
Oh @Fayolle I am so, so sad to read that. I will light a candle for her tonight. My inbox is always open if you need me xx
I have tended to the chickens, made a cooked breakfast, tidied up a bit and sold two bits online. No laundry here as I have challenged myself only to do 2 loads per week in January to reduce electricity costs...
The small people are hungry again so I am going to prepare a picky plate for them to snack on for lunch. I am feeling a bit better but really mustn't do too much so wood chopping has been delayed xx9 -
I'm so sorry about your best friend's daughter, Fayolle. (((Hugs))) to you both.I'm repairing things. One dress bought in Monsoon ridiculously cheaply because it needed a repair - ten minutes. I bought that dress over two years ago. My favourite dog-walking jacket that has needed a repair for weeks - superglued in seconds. Most robust slippers that I wore every day until a thread loosened itself and started to unravel weeks ago making them unwearable - 15 minutes with a needle and yet more superglue. Repair to shower-room caddy - five minutes. That's needed doing for over a year, too. Virtuous *ting* of halo and a reminder to self that procrastination never sorted anything out. Now looking for more equally easy irritations to clear today.Packet of ibuprofen handed to lodger who's smiling and laughing as usual but feeling a teensy bit grim after playing a game of Trivial Pursuit where you drank if you got the answer right or wrong apparently. He got home safely so that's all that matters.Better is good enough.9

oh Fayolle - such sad news.
Washing is drying on the line - and I cleaned out the rabbit hutch - wearing a light long sleeved t-shirt! It's so mild!

Thank you Honey Bear10 -
Me again!
Bossed all the boys into tidying the middle room (slightly better now) and sent Small and Tiny out to feed the chickens and goats. In the mean time I have sorted the kitchen and submitted my annual Goat Inventory online.
So sorry to year about your best friend's daughter Fayolle. What a tragic end to the year for all who knew her. Sending massive virtual {{hugs}}. It's totally quiet in the house ATM. Bliss.8 -
Hugs Fayolle such sad news xx
tree and other bits down
living room dusted and hoovered
3.5 miles walked, some of it was a bit muddy and it was quite busy but the place we went was big enough for all to spread out… feeling quite virtuous now
we have leftovers from yesterday’s meal for eats today, so that will be nice and easy… I think I shall now have a couple of hours with my new book
take care all x10 -
Fayolle.. what an awful end to the old year and start to the new one.. I lost a beautiful friend on 1st January walking home from a new year do many years ago.. it still haunts me every year. She was murdered which is just horrific.. and another friend we lost in a car accident on christmas eve years ago.. it get easier but we remember them. Rachel and Becki
Be kind to yourself and I too will light a candle for her
I have washing machines prepped to be turned on but no washing on New Year.. Washing away a loved one is not my idea of fun and I'm not superstitious but not prepared to take chances this year. Besides, I have nowhere left to dry stuff lol
I have a nasty headache, crawled out of bed about 45 minutes ago and had a shower and found clothes..
OH has loaded the DW and I ran the bath for the smelly girls.
